Then goes on to speculate who might come in to back up Brock. The first name is Cousins which isn't the worst then he mentions Geno Smith (and I think, f**k no!) which is worse than anything.

Why would Geno smith as a backup be a bad thing?

A stand alone second with the third to equal what's already coming to them needs to be the ask. Otherwise just keep him this year and take the free third.

Also, they can always sign another reclamation project and they got that kid they drafted last year who is supposed to be promising

Nope. It is multiple 2nds.
An interesting idea is a 2nd this year.
A 2nd next two years, but if he is on the roster on 10th day of the league year, it becomes a 1st. If they transition/franchise him they both become 1st round picks.

If he is not on the roster for 2027 the 2028 2nd becomes a 3rd.

lol wut?

Because he f**king sucks even as a backup. I'd rather have like Aiden O'Connell or a Davis Mills as a backup

Florio/Simms were saying that fair value is a Conditional 4th. I don't see the 49ers making that trade.

I really love Geno but I don't think he's the type of guy that would flourish in Shanny's system

Can you elaborate on why?

He's a pocket passer he will be just fine lol. Raiders are a mess so of course he was gonna look bad there.

I'm not sure. I don't think of Geno as a fast release guy, or a guy who likes playing statue, checking down all of shanny's brilliantly designed options in exactly the prescribed order. My tarot sees friction coming there.

But I haven't seen lots and lots of Geno. maybe my impressions are off.

Sure. obviously the raiders are a disaster, so nothing against geno there.

Price starts at a 2nd or multiple lower picks otherwise we might aswell keep him.

If we traded him I wouldn't complain if we flipped a pick for a WR.

Because he's a terrible QB. How about start with that. I'm not sure why anyone feels this needs to be decided right now, especially with someone like Smith who may have a hard time attracting interest even as a back-up after the crappy year he had. As I keep saying, what happens with the back-up QB position this year will depend a lot on what the team thinks it has in Rourke. If he shows in camp that he's capable of being a decent option, there's little incentive for them to go chasing after washed up vets who will want more money.

Might be the dumbest trade I've ever heard. We'd get that back as a comp pick.

Conditional picks depending on his roster status.
