Make sure you have the right replacement first, then trade for a second rounder. Otherwise we need a lot more. That's all I'm saying. Someone was throwing around a few names who could sub in and perform at his level. But I don't think so. I don't think there are that many guys out there.

Guys can come in a play well for a little. We've seen Cooper Rush do it. We've seen Jimmy G do it. You are way too high on one game (rams game), everything else Mac did was meh. It's not worth passing up the chance to add a future cornerstone to a depleted roster. Mac has one more year left on his deal. His contribution to a SB will be the pick we get from him, whether it be through trade or comp pick

No sense in hoarding a backup qb with a s**tty roster

You're both right

Only way out is the draft. Gotta start hitting on our Warners and Huffs and Greenlaws and Kittles again. The more picks they have the better

Another angle is Mac winning games next year just pushes us back in the draft, making it harder for them. Having to tank 2018 resulted in Bosa and a quick turnaround. We're almost better off taking our lumps with a normal backup if Brock gets hurt

Having a Backup QB that can start and win games is basically the story of the Shanahan Era, the Harbaugh Era, and the 49er glory days.

We are simply not in full rebuild mode. We are in win now mode with our top 5 earners at 30 or older. Unless we blow it all up, trade bosa for 3 first rounders and williams for 1st and second etc etc. We need picks, but we cant blow up what got us here either.

We have to secure the qb2 position BEFORE we move mac, if we ever do.

Couldn't disagree more. This team needs picks. Mac will be a hot commodity and a mini bidding war may ensue. Wouldn't be surprised if we get something along the lines of a second and fourth…it will be something along those lines. Now whether Lynch can hit on those picks makes us all nervous but at least we try. We get Morris involved in drafting process. Perhaps we can get a good center fielder type safety like Dillon Thieneman out of Oregon or an AJ Haulcy out of LSU with one of those second rounders.

Fact of the matter is we can't sit on our hands this off season. Time to get younger, smarter and better. I love Mac but he's not a luxury this team can afford.

A good 2nd string qb is a luxury we can't afford? Purdy is an excellent player but he has missed some games. I don't see Mac as a luxury.

Well Atlanta is supposedly going to release Kirk Cousins, maybe Shanahan gives him a call.

Maybe?! Come on now Cousins already has a locker in our locker room.

I really don't know the situation, but could Captain Kirk Cousins come here for a year? Backup Purdy? Better than Penixz

100 percent no. Sorry don't see it….I'll take the picks. Take a gamble on Zach Wilson and see if we can develop him. We could get two starters with the picks from the Mac deal, throws salt over shoulder lol, but it could happen. This team soooooooo badly needs new blood.

Take the picks, man! All day, every day.
