No question Purdy runs the offense better. He should since he's been here longer and had time to learn all the nuances of Kyles's offense. He's obviously more mobile and should have a better relationship with his receivers.
However we also need to realize that the Niners schedule s=ince Brock returned has been fairly soft. The Browns have a good ass rush but not much else. The Bears have a good offense but a secondary full of holes. The other teams are just bad. Jones played against the Rams twice, the Texans and Bucs on the road and the Falcons at home. The only bad team they played while he was in there was the Giants. Jones played agains teams with tougher defenses.

Agreed and even with that would be 3rd in the league in passing yards per game if not for tbe 3 mop up duties.
Thankfully these past few games Brock is back to the 22/23 Brock. Hopefully he stays this way

Purdy vs Mac.
Mac - excellent operator of the offense great QB
Purdy - excellent operator of the offense playmaker great QB
Sounds about right to me

Better than 2023 Purdy because then he was a point guard excellent at getting the ball to the playmakers
Now he's throwing guys open extending plays and now he's making plays
Less talent around him and he's driving the bus

They should not trade Mac Jones.
The back-up QB is probably the second most important position in the game considering all the injuries that happen every year. Mac Jones proved that he could be a really good QB with this team. He has a small salary. He's a great teammate. Why trade him?
Unless someone gives a first rounder to the Niners, they should not trade him. For what? A second rounder? Yeah cool. Try finding a more valuable player than Mac Jones with that second rounder.
I don't want to see someone like Brandon Allen under center please. Maybe Kurtis Rourke is the real deal I don't know but right now it's a no brainer. Keep Mac.

Why couldn't Kyle do something similar with a Zach Wilson if need be?
If you can get a 2 and a pick in 27 you absolutely should move Mac. Guy played well enough to get a shot to start somewhere.

Zach Wilson isn't Mac Jones. May as well get Trey Lance if we are going that route.

see no reason to move him for what we'd get, we're in this position because of him. He had this team believing when Brock went out and we now know what he can do if needed.

I trust Kyle's ability to get enough out of a backup to win some games if need be if they are given a nice offer. Brissett, Minshew, lots of backup types available.
I just don't see how a 2 and another pick isn't far superior than a late 3 in 2028. Wouldn't the team be in the same boat in 27 wondering can Rourke play or looking at the available backups?

They will probably do right by Mac trading him to a team to start. I hope we keep him though!

Not the first time the conversation has been had, but to me you have to move him if you get an offer including a 2nd and additional picks. Take your chances with another free agent vet, though I don't think the field looks very good.
Let's see if we get an offer like that in the first place.

I think Rourke will surprise some people. He's a strong fit as a long term backup in a Shanahan style of offense. If you watched some of his games at Indiana, he ran that offense like a pro, was very much in command and a smooth operator in the pocket. All the negatives on him are largely irrelevant as the 49ers don't need him to step in as a long term starter.

They knew Brock was the best QB on the roster in training camp, so if Rourke has it, they will know after the 26 season. I think Kyle can get any QB to be productive, but until Jimmy G he couldn't win with any QB. I do not take it for granted than any QB can cone here and win. No one thought Jones would be as good as he was, so let's not assume anyone can do it. I'd rather we keep the safety net unless someone offers a first or the equivalent (enough picks to move up into the first).

Would like to see Mac Jones year 2 in Kyle's offense. He has the personality to let it rip and the accuracy with touch. With more time in the offense and within the pocket, he seems to be capable of playing as well as Brock. With lesser mobility he can still operate the offense at a level that can win us games.

F'it if we're not going to have high priced WRs... lets have the highest paid backup QB, with incentives if he has to start games.
So redo his contract if there are no teams he's interested going to as starter this offseason.
