Way more physically gifted that Purdy for sure.

What arm strength?

His arm is noticeably better than anything we've had in a while. Almost all of his passes are beautiful spirals. We don't need to pretend he doesn't have arm talent.

He throws and absolutely beautiful spiral. Accurate and pin point too. He can throw some darts. Just the few bad plays and lack of mobility and athleticism. Those are the downfall. But his spiral and accuracy is beautiful to watch.

Bear in mind he has not had the best coaching in the NFL. He has been our best back up in the Shanahan era. I would like to see him play when his knee is 100% and has spent more time here under good coaches. If his knee is 100% he might get more mobile than he is now.

He isn't that mobile to begin with. With that said, if Jones were fully healthy I thjnk we are 6-0 or 5-1 ( Purdy never starts the Jags game). Best backup since dare I say Steve Young. Could say Purdy in 2022 as well but Jones will definitely keep us competitive.
We know he's going to take more sacks than most. That's just going to happen giving his lack of mobility. He just needs to hang on to the ball when he does. That was always my thing with him since watching him in the league.

This game wasn't perfect, though he did have the offense humming for the most part. Passing game wise anyway. Last INT he did have Tonges and MVS open shorter for a 1st down.

I still feel like he has the passing game looking as good as it's been since 23. That with pedestrian weapons for the most part. Just hope Brock is watching and can get back to this.

Fields can actually move, Jones is a turtle

Odd thing to point out on day when he takes 9 sacks and continues to be an absolutely terrible QB.

lol this is so rich..."Fields can actually move" the same day he takes 9 sacks compared to an injured Jones that took 6

*chuckle* lulz
Neither Mac nor Brock can perform behind this line. Maybe we should just throw Martinez in there and see how long he lasts.
2 really bad ints yesterday. Tonges was wide open for the 1st down on that last one.

He wasn't at fault for the first one, tho, but yeah, the 2nd Int was a killer.

At least Brock can move out of the pocket and make plays when everything breaks down. Mac has shown he does great when everything goes to plan, but is not good enough to make positive plays out of nothing.

This is the type of game that shows why Mac Jones can't be a starter on a contender. In the PO, you need someone that can scramble, that can be a playmaker outside of the structure.
MAc is not athletic and can't improvise. He's like Jimmy post ACL. Everything has to be almost perfect on offense for him.
If the pass rush is beating the O-Line quick, he's in serious trouble. He has difficulty playing under pressure.

I don't know if the team would have won or not today with Purdy.
What I know is that Purdy with his scrambling ability would not have taken 6 sacks. Some of these sacks Mac took were bad honestly.
I think Purdy would have won yards on the grounds.
Now would the team have won? I f**king don't know. The team lost today also because of Fred's horrible injury. Things like that can kill the momentum of a team.

Mac did what he could behind whatever the O-Line is at this point and he made some great plays.
The first interception doesn't look good but I think it's a miscommunication so s**t happens. The second one with an open Tongues I think is bad.
Overall it wasn't a good game for Mac but it wasn't horrible either. The offense was moving and again there was almost no running game. It's just that there was too many mistakes but again it was hard for everyone today with Fred's injury.

Did you know he had one leg?
Jones actually ran the same time as Purdy in the 40. Purdy was slightly better in the 10 yard split. Neithe ris really fast and thet aren't going be a threat to take off and make big plays. I don't think it's speed that's the issue. It's more about pocket awareness and sensing where the pressure is coming from. Purdy is better at that than Jones. Jones seems to like the pocket more whereas Purdy is better when he rolls out. Both can be effective.

Slightly better is a weird understatement. 1.55 vs 1.7 is a huge difference. 1.55 10 yard split is better than guys like Justin Fields.

Purdy came into the league juking pass rushers like Crosby and TJ Watt in tight space. The ability to quickly change direction and make the rusher miss is very important.

Brock has quickness to move from within the pocket, Mac is a statue like Jimmy was.

First one wasn't his fault. Those always look ugly in this offense but Bourne wasn't where he should be.
ATL looks really good. hopefully they blow their load tonight and come in less hungry for SNF

Definitely agree with the bolded point generally in addition to being able to process what is happening with the defense and getting rid of the ball.

We can all clearly see the short area mobility advantage that Purdy holds over Jones though, whatever their combine numbers are.
