Way more physically gifted that Purdy for sure.

What arm strength?

Empty calorie stats today. All the passing yards mean nothing if you turn the ball over and don't score touchdowns.
My thoughts from today:

-Mac made a bunch of high level throws
-His first interception wasnt necessarily his fault
-His second interception was horrible
-He got very lucky his shin came down before he fumbled
-There were a few sacks he took where a total lack of awareness caused the sack
-He is clearly still hurt as his inability to move in the pocket was very clear

Overall, he played ok. Hardly the reason we lost.

The one that Purdy doesn't have.

He played reasonably good with 2 horrible plays. But that's Mac Jones. That's what he has done in the NFL. He throws an accurate ball. Just can put up the pick too. The fumble was close and got bailed out. But it might have been a fumble. He's also a statue. But that was known.

He did play pretty well overall. I just want people to keep the same energy for both QBs.

I'll have to look at what happened there but I have a bigger issue with that 2nd pick than any other throw in the game.

Kendrick Bourne man…I saw someone call him a chaos agent and it's so true. So much good but also some really bad. Never know what you're gonna get with him.

Also I can't wait til we don't have to see MVS on the field.

Yeah he actually played good overall. Especially when you include all the games. Just the 2 interceptions were so costly. The fumble that didn't count as one but was so close it may have been one. That call could go either way. I'm honestly surprised they called it how they did. He threw some real accurate balls. But had costly turnovers. But that's been Mac Jones in the NFL. He will make the plays that kill you. Which is why his career never took off.

His arm is noticeably better than anything we've had in a while. Almost all of his passes are beautiful spirals. We don't need to pretend he doesn't have arm talent.

He throws and absolutely beautiful spiral. Accurate and pin point too. He can throw some darts. Just the few bad plays and lack of mobility and athleticism. Those are the downfall. But his spiral and accuracy is beautiful to watch.

1. Play callling
2. O-line
3. Fred Warner injury
4. defense missed tackling and miss communication

IMO that's the reason the 9ers lost the game.

Interesting. In a pure arm strength rating among starters he is/was probably in the bottom 5. Certainly in the bottom 10 if not. Not 32 though.

Bear in mind he has not had the best coaching in the NFL. He has been our best back up in the Shanahan era. I would like to see him play when his knee is 100% and has spent more time here under good coaches. If his knee is 100% he might get more mobile than he is now.

Can say the same thing about Brady and Manning.

This is the type of game that shows why Mac Jones can't be a starter on a contender. In the PO, you need someone that can scramble, that can be a playmaker outside of the structure.
MAc is not athletic and can't improvise. He's like Jimmy post ACL. Everything has to be almost perfect on offense for him.
If the pass rush is beating the O-Line quick, he's in serious trouble. He has difficulty playing under pressure.

I don't know if the team would have won or not today with Purdy.
What I know is that Purdy with his scrambling ability would not have taken 6 sacks. Some of these sacks Mac took were bad honestly.
I think Purdy would have won yards on the grounds.
Now would the team have won? I f**king don't know. The team lost today also because of Fred's horrible injury. Things like that can kill the momentum of a team.

Mac did what he could behind whatever the O-Line is at this point and he made some great plays.
The first interception doesn't look good but I think it's a miscommunication so s**t happens. The second one with an open Tongues I think is bad.
Overall it wasn't a good game for Mac but it wasn't horrible either. The offense was moving and again there was almost no running game. It's just that there was too many mistakes but again it was hard for everyone today with Fred's injury.

Fields can actually move, Jones is a turtle

Odd thing to point out on day when he takes 9 sacks and continues to be an absolutely terrible QB.

lol this is so rich..."Fields can actually move" the same day he takes 9 sacks compared to an injured Jones that took 6
