I really hope the guy is Dennis Allen. 4-3 Over guru and strong run defense over the years. I've never been a fan of the 3-4, but I'm also just a civilian posting on a 49ers forum

I just don't get the sense that Saleh is coming back to SF, there's just so many opportunities to stay on the east coast as a DC.
My picks are simple:
Allen and Ulbrich, if they can't get Allen then get Ulbrich.

Saleh to interview with Jags and Raiders ? Hope the team doesn't put all their eggs in this basket. There are plenty of good DC candidates out there. Would hate to see them all hired only to watch Saleh take a HC gig. You know what that means….Brandon Staley as DC

Team defense ranking and notes on potential DC candidates:
3. HC Robert Saleh, Jets - 4-3 base. Interviewing for HC position (Jaguars, Raiders)
3. DC Jeff Ulbrich, Jets - 4-3 base. Interviewing for HC positions (Jets).
15. DC Patrick Graham, Raiders - 3-4 base. Interviewing for DC/HC positions (Bengals DC, Jaguars HC).
22. DC Demarcus Covington, Patriots - 3-4 base. Interviewing for DC positions (Bengals). Only one year experience as DC.
25. DC Lou Anarumo, Bengals - 3-4 base. Interviewing for DC positions (Colts).
27. HC Matt Eberflus, Bears - 4-3 base
27. DC Eric Washington, Bears - 4-3 base.
29. DC Gus Bradley, Colts - 4-3 base.
30. HC Dennis Allen, Saints - 4-3 base
30. DC Joe Woods, Saints - 4-3 base

Would rather take Lou over Ulbrich. Ulbrich is just a Saleh disciple that did poorly once Saleh left town. I'm not buying the excuse it was because he had too much on his plate. It's a lazy take, kind of like why Kyle's offense looks bland at times.
Ulbrich should be at the bottom of the list that includes guys like Lou, Allen, Saleh…

He's actually a disciple of Dan Quinn/Raheem Morris.
spags was a horrible HC and his defense in ST was awful.

The reason why their defense was getting better towards the end of the season is because a lot of the younger guys like Battle were finally playing. The only reason they were playing is because the over the hill vets that Anarumo favored got injured and he had no choice but to throw the younger guys in there.
That's the single biggest criticism I've seen of him, that he'll stick with subpar veterans to a fault over unproven but higher talent younger players.

Yep. My number one choice for DC is Anarumo. What makes him attractive is that he's coming off a down year. So he won't be getting any HC offers anytime soon. This is how guys like Spags and Schwartz became staples as coordinators. Saleh has a higher probability of becoming a head coach in the near future than Lou. Hope he gets an interview. Comeon Kyle. Don't just sit on Saleh

Also it seems pretty obvious that the Bengals have decided to shift over to a 3-4 front. They're excluding two of the top 4-3 candidates and the only candidates they've scheduled interviews with are both primarily 3-4.

Are we talking about Lou Anarumo or Kyle Shanahan? Doesn't seem like it bothered a lot of you guys that Kyle keeps doing this. All of a sudden with Lou it's a thing.

Like I asked you yesterday, when did he have an up year? In all his time as a DC he's never coached a Top 10 defense.
