Updating OP with candidates listed: DC Robert Saleh Jeff Ulbrich Jim Schwartz STC Darren Rizzi John Fassell -------------------------- I don't know many, if any, who don't feel like both Sorensen and Schneider need to be replaced. It's easy to call for a firing, but it's another thing to offer solutions/ideas -- I've got some of my own. Let's discuss. DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR My top two DC candidates are: Robert Saleh - many of our guys know him and love him. Jets defense has fallen apart without him. He knows what he's doing and would be a huge upgrade. Jim Schwartz - runs the wide nine and a great man scheme. Would mesh perfectly here. Cleveland may fire their HC meaning Schwartz could be available. SPECIAL TEAMS COORDINATOR One ST coordinator I'd love to bring in is John Fassell from Dallas. Has a great unit on a bad team and has had great success a number of places. McCarthy ain't coming back and I think he could be available. Would be a huge upgrade over Schneider. Thoughts? And any other names you would throw out there?

Yeah I wonder how many HC candidates are interviewing saying Saleh would be their man at the DC spot. Sorta makes that interview look a little better for them.

So much of building a coaching staff is about who you know and if you hade a relationship same views etc.

Vrabel and Saleh as far as I know have never worked together. I don't think they run the same defense either.

I don't want Shanahan saying "Well I couldn't get Ulbrich or Saleh...I'll just give Brandon Staley the job because I can't find anyone else at this time." Do your job a bring a s**t load of candidates from all over.

My guess is he and John are taking this very seriously and being thorough. They can't afford to have a 3rd bad hire at DC in a row. At least this is my hope.

Why would you believe that is in anyway a likely outcome? The last two years they've had to scrounge around for a DC in late January or mid February when just about every other team had their staffs locked in. That greatly limits your options on who you can hire. This time around it's a much different situation.

i like dennis allen. saleh and ulbrich, while they have certainly connections to our team, those would be backwards looking moves. they run our current stuff, so it would be more of the same scheme wise, just with a more experienced guy running it. i think we could use a whole new approach and fresh eyes on the situation. so d allen, final answer. you get with him, and go over his checklist of how he would use the current roster, and what we need to get in offseason.
