THIS YEAR:
1) Adjust the offense to include more of the quick game to stretch the defense wider. Who cares if the offense is dink and dunk if it moves the chains. This can help open up the middle for running and potentially provide more chances for deep play action.
2) Utilize Brock's running ability more. That means zone reads and QB RPO on draws. Just make sure he knows to be safe.
3) Scheme up some more creative formations, motions, and misdirection that teams haven't seen before. Especially for short yardage and the red zone. Keeping teams guessing in those situations will make us a lot more unpredictable, more dangerous, and consequentially more effective/successful in those spots.
NEXT YEAR/FUTURE:
1) Fix the weak spots on OL (LG, C, RT). With a shorter QB, you need a beefier interior OL to keep guys out of his face so Brock has lanes more consistently and or more space in front of him so that when he releases it, the ball can be over the heads of the DL/OL instead of the trajectory being cutoff from a shorter distance which leads to more deflections/batdowns. I'd draft a center and OT, and sign competition. I might even try Jaylon Moore at LG if he's brought back. If Feliciano can return, he may be a cheap option at C.
2) Draft a future star at LB and competition at S, along with depth at DE. I like Sam O in the rotation. He's still got upside but needs to learn more moves. We might consider signing a safety for competition too.
3) Put a massive emphasis on acquiring proven talents on special teams in FA and the draft. That means guys who can tackle downfield, and block for returns, but also threats to score on returns.

This year.
1) KS doesnt seem to want to change it up.
2) No way. He's not Lamar. He has good mobility but he's not a runner..
3) Not sure how easy that really is to just drum up new formations. KS just needs to be better. Look how easy the Rams make it look in the redzone.
Next year
1) We have been saying this for years. They just don't value center and guards highly.
2) Agreed
3) How about a new coach on ST?

I think the best way to fix this team next year is to win games.

I don't know why Shanahan felt like he had to throw away the entire playbook with Brock as a starter. All he needs is like 20% of the Jimmy G playbook to keep defenses honest, but it feels like Shanahan is now in love with airing it out

The best thing they can do this season is get back to running the football at a 60/40 clip and use more playaction pass. I agree with mixing in some misdirection plays with Deebo or Cowing.

Pay your consistently good players (like Buckner), not your one year wonders.

Fire Kyle and find an actual football coach. Not just a run game coordinator.

we could just win games when we are over 10 points in front, that would help.

This year:
Who cares. We're not winning the SB so just play Pearsall, Cowing, Green, Mustapha, Bethune, Anderson to let them get experience because they're part of the future. If we finish 9-8 and lose by 30 the wild card game so be it oh and don't trade for anyone.
Next year:
Fire Foerster and hire a good O-line coach. Give Brock a 2-year deal because we still don't know if he is the guy. Get rid of the bad contracts (Deebo, Hargrave). Get rid of Juice. Let Banks and Mooney hit free agency because they don't worth the money they'll ask. Fix the O-line (long shot) with a good C, good LG and good RT. Get a fast linebacker with good awareness. Get a safety that can play single-high. Get a competent edge-rusher. Get a new ST coach with some good gunners.
Well I think that my plan for next year is really a 2 or maybe 3 year plan.

To really fix this team you need to take some of Kyle's power away, have him less influence the draft.
A losing season might help that who knows but nothing will change as long as Kyle has influence, the amount of picks he has wasted bust RB's he has wasted is a joke.
Of course I caveat this with, who really knows who is responsbile for each pick, we only speculate.
This years crop does look more promising but need to get this team younger which means we need more sucess with the next few drafts.
Really the OL needs improving this past draft was packed full of OL and we mostly ignored it - which means we will do the same in the future - we will always have a poor OL, its a philosphy thing with Kyle he just doesn't believe in it

Plus, now the Rams have as much chance at the playoffs as we do...

A 2 year deal for Purdy? Yikes . The needs of our team should be obvious to Shans and I just don't see him listening to our cries lol. Just like the SBs . Purdy makes some good runs, needs to slide more though.
