Alright then. Group hug?

You, KRO, need to come back to the group. And bring others with you.
I'm working on that big blockbuster of a question that can stump everybody!

Looking forward to it and I will do my best through sleet, snow, heat waves and hangover from the football season gone by with a t-shirt saying-

Check out the Iso Niner Q on the Zone
Smokey Joe the quiz master will cheer him on
Whatever your fandom or wherever you hail from
You will be tested.
So as requested,
get your almanac that goes beyond the stick
And dust off the history of our team, but make it quick.
Else we forget everything and enjoy our sixth.

I LOVE IT KeepRabbitsOut!
That put a smile on my face, early this cold Saturday morning.

For all those of you who might be "following" this thread, especially those doing most of the paddling for this whole webzone boat, I want you to know
I am greatly enjoying reading all that's going on here. I had set "message boards" aside for quite some time. So glad I found this one. Y'all's some good football people!
I'm looking forward to the draft as much as I am the Super Bowl [I think].
Go Niners!
Thanks again Rabbit for that little poem!

ITEM 1:

QUESTION 12 will be posted Wednesday, Feb. 5.
4:30 PM Pacific.

ITEM 2:

If you all would please bear with me, Item 2 may be "Just A Bit Outside!" the scope of this Board's primary focus, [the 49ers] in that it is somewhat, personal.

As these years go by, among many things, the conclusion of the sports seasons, especially football, leave me with greater and greater anticipation for the next seasons just around the corner.

This year, for instance, I will be tuned in on The Draft and every 49er draft pick like never before. The same with Training Camp. The same with preseason and the start of the new season.

I've never been one to don a team's or player's jersey on game days, or to wear the team's hat, or to hang any team banners or team pictures on the wall. But I decided that this year I wanted something like all of that. Something constant, that I could look at, and pick up, every time the team is playing and I'm watching, every time I'm at home.

It's really ironic. I came on this board primarily just to give. To give from the best I had in me. I was very excited about the Name That Niner! feature. I believe I can safely say it has had a little success and has found a place here, at least for now. I hope it can continue, for now.

As it turns out, it is I who have been given something. And it means a lot to me. Some of you may not understand. That's ok. Some of you may understand.

By now you must know that I love writing. The writing process. The thinking process. I love originality. Creativity.

Just less than a week ago, something very interesting to me popped up here in this thread. It reminded me of a scene in "Dead Poet's Society." It was that classroom scene where Professor Keating went through that emotional exercise with Todd, and Todd, on the spot, recited a poem he had all bottled up inside his very soul.

Last Saturday, someone posted a poem that he created. I read it, and I felt somewhat much like what I think Keaton felt – as depicted in the film – for the thought and effort that was put into it. [That poem was first posted on page 29 of this thread.]

This, below, is what I did with it.

[Beneath the poem is a cutout of KRO's name, the date, and the post number. I placed the small pot behind it to give it scale.]

When I am watching the April draft, with the most scrumptious spread of food laid out before me, I will be drinking out of this cup.

When I am watching the Super Bowl, I will have this cup before me, all the time thinking that THIS TEAM will be in it February 2026. And Win it!

It is sort of heartwarming to me that KRO fitted the screen name of Smokey Joe into the poem, who from what I can tell is a very prominent member on this board, and also included a shortened version of my own screen name.

Now don't get me wrong. I'm not putting the poem on the same level as the stuff of F. Scott Fitzgerald.

But it has given me a lasting memory, and a keepsake.

About as much as ever, I look forward to QUESTION 12, on February 5.

Thank You!

Respectfully,
Isosceles

Iso seems like a really chill Dude.
Dropping quizzes on the zone with some necessary clues.
.
So much depth to the man and also his game.
That has us in search to find, the Niner to Name.

Due to Life's Journey there were some left unread.
Due to the complexity, some flew over my head.

Nonetheless I love to play when I'm able.
For this quiz however, it's time for me to turn the table.

This is an ode to him for his draft night.
As well as his career that spans three cites.

NAME THAT NINER

Since the is taken. Feel free to put this on your 49ers tray!

Josh Morgan can do a lot more than make opposing cornerbacks look silly on a football field.

The 49ers up-and-coming wide receiver plays basketball, collects sneakers and baseball hats. Typically, he can be seen and heard in the locker room joking around with Vernon Davis on which of the two went to the better high school, since they went to rival schools in the Washington DC area.

He also writes poetry and one of his pieces, "Life's Journey" was featured in the 49ers Gameday Magazine:

Life's Journey
By Josh Morgan

June 20, 1985 was the day God placed me upon his earth
My mother was in pain but it was a beautiful birth! The biggest thing with music to me is the lyrics. I love listening to the lyrics because I love words and everything you can do with them. I write lyrics myself, and I also write a lot of poetry.

I've been doing poetry since I was young. I originally started doing it to stay off the streets, but now I do it for the challenge.

It challenges your mind. There are so many ways you can make something mean something else. There are so many metaphors you can use. That is something that has always intrigued me.

Sometimes I'll listen to rap and be like, "How did they put that together?" and when I hear stuff like that, I take it as a challenge to be more creative in my writing. Anything that is going to challenge me, I'm going to love it.

He played for 9ers, skins and Bears. I changed sites to cites to suggest writing.

This is all awesome, krizay!
By the way, I like your "winner" emblem much better than mine. I may switch, find me a new one.
I'm curious how SmokeyJoe knew this. Or perhaps, nevermind. Smokey knows a LOT!

I am intrgued by this Josh Morgan.
I'm gone go read up on him!
I do like what you did there krizay!

It is all so rewarding. Your compliments are like a Bahama beach breeze.
Thanks so much, again.

[I better stop and slip on out, before KeepRabbitsOut shows up/tries to make us go book a "room." LOL ]

It was the capitalization of 'Life's Journey' mainly. The recent theme of the thread was poetry and he formed his question as a poem and said it was an ode to the player. So I searched '49ers poetry Life's Journey' and the top result was the article about Josh Morgan that Krizay just shared. Morgan also played for three teams so I thought 'cites' was a play on 'sites'.

I just found it, and read it.
Iso, I am floored by your heart felt writing, incredible message and special token that you made with the coffe cup.

Now after reading your post on the cup and then seeing Kisray's inspired poem/puzzle, I can only reflect on how it can be the small bit not insignificant positive attitude that makes a difference for the better.

I feel compelled to get my own mug with the "sweaty tooth man" poem on it.

I've already started drinking from it. No coffee for me though.
Now I'm gonna find the "sweaty tooth man" poem, see what it's all about.
Go Niners!

[Edit: OH! You're talking about Todd's poem from D. Poet's Society! I feel a a bit foolish! ]

KRO, I think that's a great idea.
