I dont think Kyle has to list Cowing's status as he isn't on the 53 at this point - he has simply had his practice window opened. He hasn't practiced since day 1/week 1 training camp until last week so it still seems very seems unlikely he is used although Turner didnt cover himself in glory last game so if Pearsall cant go again who knows

Unbelievable that he can't get activated still and Willis is getting promoted from the PS over him.

Maybe they're waiting to see if they need to promote Cowing depending on whether Pearsall will be available?
I thought cowing's window was closed for him to return

They opened his practice window on January 5th. That gives them 21 days to bring him back onto the active roster or he's done after that.

I'm a fan and I'd love to see him activated. I think we need speed and he brings that. My guess is we'll find out by Friday but he's allowed to practice this whole window but doesn't mean he will be brought back to play.

He tore his hamstring which made him unaavaliable to practice i think he tore it like on first day of practice too he hasnt/wasnt able to practice pretty much all year i think it was they felt more comfortable putting turner out there cause he knows the offense better.

Hopefully they feel more comfortable with him being out there this week
They obviously have future plans for Cowing and Watkins since they have not been waived. Aiyuk is gone and Jennings/Moore/Bourne/Turner are free agents. Depending on where free agency goes, I would expect at least one WR draft pick even if the four WRs are resigned. If that pick is also a punt returner, then Cowing has an uphill battle to make the team. Bergen is on the practice squad so there is competition past Moore.

His best case scenario is that he is a better backup speedy receiver than Watkins, since Pearsall is oft injured. Worst case scenario is practice squad as the punt returner in case Moore or Bergen or new draft pick gets injured.

Cowing didn't show a lot as a kick or punt returner before he was injured. He usually went down as soon as he was hit. His small size keeps him from being a consistent possesion receiver so he's basically a run deep and hope the QB can get the ball to him guy.

I feel like he could be our secret weapon this week. Thought I remembered him getting some quality time with Purdy in the offseason. Hoping for some chemistry
Need to add his speed to the offense.

Agree. He produced when his number was called, as infrequently as it was called.

You gotta think with Pearsall, Watkins and Cowing that they will have a few deep throws per game.

Have to imagine all those guys should have the offense down by next year. It's going to be all about them staying healthy and ensuring they can beat out the other guys at the position. Pearsall obviously gets a leg up due to his draft status and being the most proven. Wouldn't surprise me if one of Cowing or Watkins isn't on the roster next year. I like both players so hopefully they have a big offseason and then stay healthy(Cowing seemed to have done that last offseason but then killed his hamstring)

Id be surprised only because Cowing got great reviews until he was hurt and Watkins will only be in year two, yet he was at least active. Super small sample sizes but compare catches and targets for Cowing & Watkins to Danny Gray. It made sense for the team to bounce Gray. They'd really have to shyt the bed to be cut.
