The only thing that can hold back Ricky is his health this year. When healthy and playing he can produce and I think he has great hands. Hes shown hes capable of producing when actually playing. He was in with Puka and JSN in leading the league in yards before he got hurt. Hes was top 5 in separation win rates when lined up on the outside. The only thing you can really knock him for his being out. If hes healthy this year I expect him to continue what he was doing before he was hurt last year.

Also i really like the Stribling pairing with this core. We really brought in someone with speed who can play X and slot. So we can move our WR around and Stribling can really clear out space for Pearsall. I think that will really open things up in middle of field that was lacking for sure last year

There is no doubt that Ricky has skill. He has to deliver this year. They took another WR . . . so the writing is on the wall so to speak for Ricky . . . put up or shut up and be looking on the outside in because they will cut him if he cannot delvier consistently. I hope he will and he delivers on the promise where they drafted him. He has to deliver in my opinion. If he gets injured again, and cannot play through it, well, that tells the organization what on him and he'll be on the outside looking in.

Agreed but it sounds like you're just parroting literally everything Alex Boone said.

Nothing wrong with having a take that he shares with somebody. None of us are football rocket scientists in here--with a few exceptions...

"Slick Rick" is slowly but firmly entering bust territory.

I wish he was 220 lbs and still had the same shifty moves and quickness.
He really needs to produce - or he'll be entering Petis territory.

Yep, but pearsalls problem is availability. He's proven he can play but if you can't get on the field there is no difference

Cut him, why? You NEED multiple starting caliber WRs on a roster. He's on a cheap WR contract for the next two yrs.

Anyone who's trying to be objective and has two eyeballs, can see he's talented. He's a top tier route runner who can separate. He has great hands and more than enough speed to win at every level of the field. Every single team in the NFL can use a WR like Ricky.

DS has no baring on Ricky….people need to understand that there are 3 positions at WR, split end (X), flanker (Z), slot (y). They all require different skill sets, not every WR can play each spot and are more effective lined up at certain spots.

as far as injuries go. He's dealt with one, a PCL which isn't something you can just "play though" and maintain a certain level of play….having him hobble around isn't helping the team, so playing though it imo is stupid. The gunshot is a freak thing and shouldn't be held against him at all.

A healthy Ricky is a big deal for this passing offense.

Agree.
Be patient. The podcasters blame him for his injuries. You keep him for the 4 year length of his contract. An extension after 3 years? No-even if it's a good year. Too much of a gamble. Let him play out his 4 years and if he's still brittle he can come back in year 5 on a one year low ball contract. Only then should we give up. It's potential. As for Pettis he showed nothing and gave nothing.
Let's say he gives us 2 good years in year 3 & 4. Then do we give him that big 2nd contract? We can cross that bridge when we get to it. A lot will depend on how the others are doing. Tag him? Maybe but his trump card will be to get angry over it only if other teams want him. Tag and trade? Not worth much. Getting ahead of myself but we got nothing to lose by keeping him.
