🏆 SUPER BOWL LVIII PREGAME THREAD - SF 49ERS vs KC CHIEFS 🏆

Interesting tidbit. When the alarms went off in the hotel I at 6am, Kyle Shanahan says he didn't hear it because he was in the basement with the coaches game planning.

I think this guy is locked in. He knows his reputation is on the line. He's getting his coaches together at sunrise and breaking it down.

Man if our guys execute like they're suppose to, this might not even be close. We just have too much talent compared to Kansas City…

I expect a closer game/win, but a 49ers' blow out win would be carthartic.

f**k 'em.

"Can't go against Mahomes" These F'n experts act like its not a team game, just about QB. Did they forget their WR led the league in drops? That they only scored about 20 per game vs our 30. It's going to be fun hearing the excuses on Monday.

It's the dawn of a new king, baby. The world doesn't know what we know about Brock. They're making decisions about him based off of 4 games (minnesota, baltimore, GB, & Lions) - those are the prime time games those guys saw. So they look down upon Brock in a way.

time to let 'em know.
My X Factor is the most obvious answer: CMC

Chiefs will be loading the box to try to stop the run and may have success sometimes, but I'm not sure if they have an answer for CMC in the pass game

CMC 2 TDs rushing, 1 TD receiving and ~150 all purpose yards and SB MVP

I don't think anyone in the national media is picking us. Literally nobody

I know the Niners came from behind twice in the playoffs. I said that in my post. I'm not confident that they can do it again against a Chiefs defense that is playing really well. They shut down the Dolphins, Bills and Ravens in the playoffs. All those teams have really good offenses. They held them to a total of 41 points in those 3 games. That's why I'm not as confident that the Niners can afford to fall behind. The playoffs are always about who's playing the best at the time. Not what they did during the season. If you're honest you have to admit that their D is playing better than the Niners D. That's my biggest concern.

Again read what I said about their D in the playoffs….please use nuance and look at the games, not just the score.

Miami in minus weather, with a QB that has never played in that s**t….with injuries ALL OVER the place. Miami turtled up vs any team that was somewhat good this yr.

Bills simply made mistakes. Missed FG dropped balls. Stopped doing what was working. Allen tried to be super man when he didn't have to be. They were running the ball all over the place and giving gimme throws all game.

Baltimore ran the ball TWICE in the second half. In a one score game. The best f**king running team in the league. LJ had wide open lands to run, but instead wanted to try and be Drew Brees and throw the ball all over the place. He stopped doing what made him the MVP and that's on them, not their D. Fumbles by rookie WR. Triple coverage INT off missed PI.

People have literally not watched the games to think KC is playing amazing hot football right now. They have one of the worst run D's in the league. Guess what SF is good at?

AND then SF….packers scored off an underthown PI and Gipson slipping on a wet field, plus a random 75 kick return.

How about we give some credit to the lions? That's a damn good offense with an ELITE OL. They're better than KC. They score how many pts in the second half after the mad adjustments?

It's crazy man…all people said was SF can't play from behind blah blah blah…they do that when it mattered most and now that's an issue?

come on dude.

Wait, is this coming from you? Lol

Ward has experience with the Chiefs and Spag-hettio's defense, advantage SF?
Twenty nine years ago I was in an all inclusive club in Antigua. There was not a single tv set on the property, which is fine, unless your team is in th Super Bowl. A small restaurant and bar was nearby, overlooking a small, rocky bay. so we walked over to that to watch the game. A couple of sailboats were anchored in the bay, and a British couple off of one of them walked up and joined us at our table. They knew Nothing about American football, so were asking a zillion questions. We were Niner fans, yes we thought they would win, our confidence in that was very high, and we might have the best offense in the history of the league. Statistically, we did, as we had scored 505 points that season, and at that time, that had never been done. I said I didn't think it was likely San Diego would be able to stop us from scoring on more than a couple of possessions, and while SD would score some points on our awfully good defense, I saw no way they could keep up with that. Well, six touchdown passes from Steve Young later, I was looking awfully prescient.

Eleven years later, we were sailing around Antigua in our sailboat, and I looked at that bay, and there is no way on Gods Green Earth I would Ever have the courage to sail through that rocky entrance to that bay. Maybe the British Admiralty charts were better than ours, as they owned that island for centuries, but I don't know.

I don't have any idea who's going to win the game Sunday, but I sure wish I had the courage of my convictions that I did on that day. I do not.

damn, made the mistake of turning on espn this morning. according to those shows, 49ers might as well not even show up! Ridiculous how we got here. Mahomes is human, bleeds and sweats and loses just like everyone else.

I liked what I heard earlier this week from a pro handicapper: KC has been better in the last 2 games than their season DVOA and could be due for a course correction, and SF has been playing worse than their season DVOA last 2 games and could also be due for a correction.

DON'T STOP BELIEVING

regression to the mean, will correct itself for a 9er SB dubya
They aren't coming from behind by very much to beat this defense. Have no faith in Wilkes at this point. I'd have guys standing up/stunting all over the place from the first snap.

All you say is true. It's also true that the Chiefs had to win on the road against those teams. I noted that the Niners came from behind twice so I know they can. I'm just not confident that they can against a good defense that is playing well.

Wouldn't you rather see the Niners jump on the Chiefs right out of the gate and make them play from behind instead of eating the clock with a lead? Of course you would. The Niners have been a better team when playing with the lead. It allows more running plays which eventually open up bigger passing plays.

I'm not saying they can't win if they need to come from behind. I just hope they don't need to. If they have to come from behind they have to make sure they don't leave Mahomes any time to come back. They have a good place kicker so it doesn't take many yards for them to get into position. A 9 point lead with 2 minutes to play would be nice.

"cathartic" adjective per the Oxford Learner's Dictionaries...."involving the release of strong feelings as a way of providing relief from anger, mental pain, etc."

Yes, this would be an appropriate use of the word if we demolish KC........LFG!!!!
