🏆 SUPER BOWL LVIII PREGAME THREAD - SF 49ERS vs KC CHIEFS 🏆

I liked what I heard earlier this week from a pro handicapper: KC has been better in the last 2 games than their season DVOA and could be due for a course correction, and SF has been playing worse than their season DVOA last 2 games and could also be due for a correction.

Gonna beat these fools like they stole something, which they did (2019 chip). Muhahah

I feel really good about us winning this game. I think the crappy practice stuff makes our guys even hungrier. I think the veteran leadership is way better than 2019. I think kyles a better coach than he was in 2019. We have a way better offense/QB.

tons of reasons to be optimistic. I really like our chances. Pat & Andy are always a tough combo, especially coupled with a good defense, but I feel like what their defense does is what our offense is best against. So it'll be fun.

The media in general is horrible at looking at matchups, nuances and how a team has played throughout the year. It's not fun/edgy to be objective.

They see Mahomes and think, welp that's a wrap. Totally disregarding their actual offensive play this yr…which has been mid all yr.

as far as their D, while its schemed up well and they have a couple "dudes" here a list of the QBs they've faced since thanksgiving.

Hurts L
O'Connell 2xs (W/L)
Love L
Allen L
Zappe W
Browning W

The playoffs they got Miami in minus degree weather and half their team was hurt. Tua played like trash and has never come close to a game weather wise like that in his football career (from what I can recall).

The Bills who blew a FG, dropped a perfectly placed deep ball from Diggs, and they were rocking a JV defensive roster at that point because of injuries.

Baltimore only allowed 17 pts (zero in the second half) and went full Simple Jack with their offensive play-calling and had multiple WTF moments.

Objectively. The Packers and Lions are much better offenses this yr AND we're playing better down the stretch, compared to KC.

any given Sunday but man the way the coverage has been and how lopsided the talking heads have this game…it just comes off as complete disrespect to a team that played as well as SF this yr.
Gonna need more of this stuff

Thanks for laying the facts out so well, it's nice to see some rational analysis! also makes me that much more confident in our guys

Yeah man no problem….any given Sunday though.

SF could totally forget how to play football, everyone could get hurt, Brock could go full Zack Wilson, or the Refs could single-handedly determine the outcome of the game

but we're a tier above KC this yr…just are.
I believe the Niners have the best team with the best personal. Unfortunately I'm not confident of a win. I was against the Ravens and against the Chiefs the last time we faced them. I really thought the 49ers could win those games. Of course we lost. This time I have my doubts.

I worry that the team didn't peak at the right time. They had to come from behind in both playoff games. This isn't the 49ers game plan. They are designed to play with a lead. If they fall behind by 10 points or more against the Chiefs they will have a much harder time coming back. The Chiefs D is playing much better than the Lions or the Packers.

I'm not confident of being able to stop Mahomes. I've seen too much of him in big games. He has that knack of rising to the occasion and finding a way to win when his back is against the wall. Same with Andy Reid. He's shown that he is a good big game coach.

The Niners will need to jump on the Chiefs early and hard if they want to wi. I don't want to see a close game where the 49ers need to hang on for a win in the last 2 minutes. The Niners are due for a good game after struggling during the last 2 so maybe we see that explosive offense this week. Plus the defense is due for a good game as well. They can't let the Chiefs control the line and keep the ball for long stretches.

I'm hoping for a big win but I'm not confident.

MSSM is so tiresome at this point, or rather they have been for years.

I have definitely been limiting my exposure to their nonsense during these past couple of weeks.

49ers defense runs a lot of shell coverage on the backend which leaves space underneath for KC to create mismatches. I would expect to see KC come out with a lot of 5 wide packages with Kelce split out to take advantage of this.

Luckily only half their receivers can catch so......

Like Johnny said a ton of bunches formations from them. Gonna be all those "pick plays" where guys like Kelce will be wide open. SF has gotta game plan for that s**t…also I would love the refs to call that s**t correctly instead of allowing OPI all game.
Maybe the D needs to bring pillows so when they get to Mahomes they can make sure they don't get a unnecessary roughness flag!!!!!
who's going to be the x-factor of this game? I predict it will be jauan jennings

Stop it. People b***hed SF couldn't come from behind. Brock couldn't lead a come from behind offense and tossed out Kyle's record in that scenario every chance they could…NOT ONCE but TWICE they did just that in the playoffs.

objectively the lions and the packers are better teams than KC. They were BOTH peaking at the right moment…guess what happened to them?

My god look at the teams KC played (and QBs) since thanksgiving. Ya'll want to crown their defense, but refuse to use any nuance game in and game out. They played a bunch of backup level QBs and lost to anything that resembled a starting QB.

I already laid out (multiple times) what they got to face in the playoffs and how those teams shot themselves in the foot.

Andy Reid was the opposite of "good in the big game" for 20 yrs lol. Not until he got Mahomes did that stereotype change. Also whose back is against the wall? Everyone is picking KC. They're the ones that are getting sucked off by the media and NFL.

SF OBJECTIVELY is a much better team. They've just played two teams that are better than KC and won. It's football man, SF rose to the occasion in those games. They didn't turtle up. We aren't full of no name young players. We got proven vets all over the damn field. We've been going to NFCCs and two SBs now.

As the game gets closer I'm more confident in a W. So long as the game is called fairly on both sides.
