I started watching the niners in the 80s and was fortunate enough to see the glory years but it's not like mistakes were not made in those years. Trading Charles Haley comes to mind. I'm sure there were others but I was too young to remember. But I truly believe that since the salary cap era Kyle, John, this team/organization has been the best I've seen since those glory years and if the niners were to let them go in hopes of better things they better be real sure because I don't know of any better options out there, and even more how many other teams would be standing in line to get them.

Haley was great but he became a disruption of major proportions. He urinated on Seifert's desk or car. He was a constant problem in the locker room and Lott had to keep him under control. I had one 49er player tell me the Charles was like a big unruly kid. There's no way they would have traded him if he wasn't such a problem.

I would like to see our QB2 be able to put up more than 1 scoring drive out of 8 against the 2's and 3's today.

Still so, you don't trade him to an arch enemy like DAL. You send him off to the other conference.
