The idea this team will contend to play the SB in their home stadium is kind of unrealistic. I don't think anyone's really saying that but it's way too lofty an expectation right now. If they did then wonderful. If they start off decent and improve let's enjoy that.

All about getting into the dance, anything goes once you're in.

Of course it's wishful thinking, but not unrealistic. Without being bias / a homer, there is a better than 50/50 shot they get to the playoffs. On the same token, it could be a struggle to get a wildcard birth if their rookies don't reach expectations by (at least) Thanksgiving.
hopefully tomorrow will be the start of a great season

Hopefully some of the players come off of PUP.

Yeah, it would be nuts if they contend this year. It would also mean a whole bunch of their rookies worked out basically ideally.
I dont even think they themselves look at themselves as contenders and the FO said as much publicly.

With that said, the schedule on paper is really easy (but games arent played on paper, remember they have won just ONE game in the division last year) so if they get hot and can beat other teams inside the division, playoffs are not a long shot imo.
Just in tme to give us something to talk about other than the struggling Giants.

Honestly I see them right up with LA as far as winning the division goes. I wouldn't say either team is head and shoulders above the other.

The schedule benefits SF a ton for once.

Right!

Thank god for the webzone! Local sports radio and tv media don't talk about 49ers football at all anymore! National sports media don't talk about us either.

What is it with them going on extended streaks of being completely unable to win?

I was saying it before the draft; people were sleeping on this kid a bit. I know he was inconsistent with the injuries and stuff; but for me he flashed plenty when on the field. Laid some wood too.

On the All-22; kids read react was pretty impressive and gave some hope. I think he takes the next step this season

WILL stick to my prediction that (if healthy) he takes the lead in tackles this year.

Definitely not. I always feel like the team plays better when doubted. I worry more about things when we're favored cuz we always find a way to blow a game we should absolutely burry the other team.

It wasnt some traditional acl tear, so that's great. I'd still feel much more comfortable if they could add a vet, true FSl their safeties (MM aside) scare the s**t out of me.
