Ah I forgot about that. A lot of second rounders haven't been signed huh. Of course Cleveland is giving out contracts again that disrupt the league. Hahaha
the human side of me is like "yeah, give these guys guarantee contracts!" But then the side of me that understands building out a competitive roster and how many of these 2nd round picks pan out - I get it from both sides.
side note for rookie contracts - Julian Edelman said the patriots would insert a clause that if the player gets hurt or cut, they only get half of the agreed upon guarantee money. He said they made it mandatory or they wouldn't sign that player. I wonder how many teams do that.

I'd be really curious to see what the guarantee money void clauses are. I'd find it interesting to see what things would prevent them from getting their guaranteed money.
Ive heard of certain players getting unique ones like Big Ben wasn't allowed to ride motorcycles anymore (if he got hurt he wouldn't get his guaranteed money) or how MJ wasn't supposed to be playing pick up ball cause the bulls didn't want him getting hurt and if he did, it would void his contract money. Stuff like that

I don't even know they are bad they are just random. Like he watches a player for 3 minutes, likes what he sees then had that impression for that player forever, even if they look terrible for the next hour he's watching he always holds to the best version of them he saw. Sometimes he raves about a player and they really do pay off. He tends to be an optimist, so that's probably part of why he rubs some people the wrong way.
Really the Matts have been the best overall beat reporters for a LONG time.

They have been announced as late as September, just before the season starts. I assume the NFL will inform the player/agent/team well before that, but I remember some talk about new restrictions on players/agents/teams making that stuff public might get included in the latest CBA because of HIPPA and all that stuff.
Interestingly positive recreational drug tests can go unpunished by the NFL now (AFAIK) but DUI has an automatic, and as far as I can tell mandatory punishment standard. Was he convicted on the DUI?

He was arraigned in February ... it's possible the NFL will wait until a verdict comes down, and since LA has a stated policy of 90 days but real results that frequently seem to take over a year (note that it took 3 months just to be arraigned) ... he might play beyond when Aiyuk comes back.

the guy is a loser. the reason for the possible suspension is he was drunk while doing over 100 mph. so he's like a ruggs, he just got lucky. i wish jed would show some leadership and say i'm not paying this loser. find another wr to sign.
