49ers sign DT Javon Hargrave

Two things: this man certainly has a chip on his shoulder; he will want to demonstrate to his old team that his services should have been retained. Second, he will want to demonstrate to his new team that his services should have been retained. His free agent signing will be justified

I love this signing. He has that "rises all tides" about him. Otherwise said, he's so impactful that he makes everyone around him better. I think we will see more consistency from Armstead, bosa will somehow get even better. Lol most of all, I think Drake Jackson will benefit from constantly be 1-1.

hargrave is excellent at pass rushing, so is bosa, armstead is really good when he isn't constantly double teamed. So it's going to be a lot of fun to watch. I can't wait
Buckner or Hargrave?

Buckner is better against the run while Hargrave is a better pass rusher.

I think talent wise they are about equal.

I'd also like to see how Hargrave's presence impacts AA and compare that to Buckner. To me, that was one of Buck's greatest traits.

Hilarious seeing Eagles fans pretending Hargrave was no big loss cuz he didn't play the run well. Let's see how that works out for them.

Also guaranteed Javon will look much better playing the run here with our system and linebackers behind him.

Just praying we avoid the injury bug for one season so we can see that DL feast. Haven't had that since 2019 and even that year Ford couldn't stay healthy all season.

Exactly. Got 11 sacks and HE was the MOST double teamed player on the DL. Yes, more than Reddick. Javon also had the most pressures I believe.

Denial isn't just a river in Egypt

Meh we do the same stuff here, all fans do that anyways. When we lost Buck there was plenty of negative comments about him.
Wow‼️ I completely forgot about Davis and the Rook, Beal. The defensive line, barring injuries, is going to be tough to handle. Like trying to hold a wet cat

I watched a film breakdown of the eagles d line and based on that breakdown, Hargrave was their best run stopped but the guys around him weren't doing their part. Not saying he was perfect but I don't think they realize how the problem was really their other d lineman and linebackers.

hargrave actually come out of college as a run stopper, didn't really have a real pass rush threat - he developed it over the years. So I think it would be odd to lose his run stopping ability but I guess it isn't impossible. Maybe he started saving more of his energy and training for pass rushing.
The Hargrave signing could be like the Fred Dean signing.

It will have a great snowball effect for the whole D including the LBs.

I'm still shocked we pulled it off. Lol we signed the second best interior d lineman to a team with the reigning DPOY/NFL Sack leader, Armstead - very good player just not flashy. Couple that with an all pro safety, all pro linebacker and on and on. It's really crazy how good our defense is if we stay healthy.

You can't double bosa every play, armstead, or hargrave every play. Lol that leaves a lot of favorable matchups for us. Also don't forget, we have guys like huff, ward, Warner that can blitz!

Agreed, plus both are around the same age, I disagree that Javon's deal is the same as DeFo's, it's not, he would cost more now if we wanted him. I loved Buck, but I loved the Hargrave signing.

I'm optimistic that Kinlaw will be a solid backup/role player this year.

Hargrave & defo are both awesome, that's a tough one. I guess I'll have to see how hargrave plays in this uniform but he's really exciting. Still am in shock we got him. I love it

But Philly couldn't have retained him, their salary cap was too tight. No room to match the contract he got. Notice how they lost a ton of players this offseason??

But either way I think he'd love to beat his old team.
