Joe Montana or Steve Young?

Joe had his Cowboys/Packers, too. They were called the New York Giants. He lost to the Giants in the playoffs three times (1985, 1986, 1990).

That something about Joe is what all great players have. It's not something you can measure but it sets them apart from other good players.

I doubt Ronnie Lott would be able to keep from getting suspended in today's game. The hits he layed on WRs would draw a flag and get him ejected now. Going back even further the Niners had a LB named Hardy Brown in the 1950s. He was famous for knocking guys out with his forearm shiver. I think he knocked 2 players out cold against the Packers one year. It's just a different game now.

I think he'd hit a QB so hard they'd turn to dust, especially these old QB's. He'll be drugged up doing it, but he'd be the most feared man on the field if he played today. He'd literally kill someone on the field.

When I watch old LT tape he's getting one on ones, being left alone with TEs and RBs or just a complete lack of athleticism or fundamentals from tackles/guards.

I think you're wrong. But was he right about Tom Brady vs. Joe Montana? I think he was spot on. If Joe Montana played in this era he'd have 10 SB's and played until he was 50. Can you image Shanny's offence in Joe Montana's hands? They would literally have to ban Shanny's offense altogether.

As to the first point, yes Joe would have 10 SB's especially if he's throwing to Jerry in Walsh's offense under modern rules.

As to the second point, would he have achieved more than in Walsh's offense? Not sure. Walsh won super bowls with lenvil elliot at RB and earl cooper at te. Kyle hasn't with two hofers at those positions.

I have some full color team photos that the 49er sponsor used to print. Their sponsor was Burgermeister beer and then Falstaff. The photos were avaialble free at liquor stores. Hardy Brown is in the 1954 and 1955 photos. He wasn't a big guy but he was mean. With todays rules he would be prosecuted for assault.

Where do you think Shanahan's offense came from? It's just a newer form of thr Walsh offense adapted to today's rules and style. Years after his retirement Walsh said he would need to change his offense to adapt to the new defenses and rules. That's what Kyle's dad did and Kyle has followed suit.

I seriously think that the plan was Haley would continue with his antics, and destroy Dallas from within, unfortunately just the opposite happened. I can't think know any other reason to trade one of the best to them.

There is more to that debate. Since I first saw the 49ers training at the Polo Field across the street from my house in 1946 when I was 4, we had a great little left handed scrambling QB who would have made several more All-Pro teams had the Browns not had Otto Graham, who never lost more than 4 games in any season in his career. FRANKIE ALBERT. He was awesome.
