I hope he starts to transition to more of a slot receiver role. Less RB and more general purpose weapon that has an even bigger pass catching role. Could extend his career by a few years.
There's RBs that are good receivers--for a RB and then there is McCaffrey who runs truly exceptional routes and can be moved anywhere on the offense.

Kyle could try B rob at RB and have cmc in the slot.

That is his genetics from his pops.

Cooked as a runner.
3rd downs only and as a slot.
He's just got nothing left. Averaged 2.9 and 3.1 vs Seattle this year...

The thing with moving him to the slot as a true receiver is that he's going to matched up with a DB on him there whereas the main reason he constantly wins his matchup is because he always gets a LB on him. There are only a few LBs that are going to stick with CMC in coverage.

Am I the only one who thinks BRob is a major step down from CMC as a runner, despite the YPC? I'd love to know how often BRob is facing a stacked box compared to how often CMC is. Just based on the eye test, I don't see BRob doing anything better than CMC; it just looks to me like he is hitting the hole hard with a bit more room to run, but I could totally be seeing what I want to see.
Edit: As context for this post, I see a lot of people clamoring for BRob over CMC, saying he's cooked and such.

In a perfect world we would have kept Mason and let Mason be the bell cow between the 20s.
Mason didn't sign a massive deal with Minnesota in fact it was 1/3 of what Luke freaking Farrell signed
.That would have been the ideal scenario.

Brobs average backup. He's not bigsby from the eagles or charbonnet or walker.
The problem is CMC is terrible in the backfield at taking carries.
The dude was 8 carries for 13 yards the first half against the eagles.
It's unacceptably bad.
So instead you have to give his carries to an average backup RB who shouldn't be a starter because CMC as a RB shouldn't even be on the NFL field.
I mean vegas had it figured out. The over under for him was 50 yards yesterday... And that's them knowing shanahans going to give him 15-25 carries in the game.
That's terrible...

While true, with this team's current lack of quality receiving options, it may not be a bad idea to on more occasions put him in the slot. And in doing so, I'll still like my chances with CMC vs. many DBs, too. That's how special of an athlete and pass-catching weapon on offense he is IMO. It couldn't hurt to give it more of a try, especially if Pearsall can't go and also with another quality pass catcher, Kittle, out.

Don't forget how great a pass catcher he is. They were even mentioning on ESPN that the TD he caught from Jennings was a ball very few WRs could track.

Meh Robinson is better than Mason overall.
Get Breece Hall for the bellcow if a transition for CMac is in the cards. Unlike Mason and Robinson hes an actual threat in pass game too.

Your totally right people that have never played ball look at his ypc as the only thing. He has forced the most missed tackles in the league this year and that's on his rushing attempts because he's always getting a defender on him at the line of scrimmage. Our offense line is below avg at running blocking and a little above avg at passing blocking. Maurice Jones Drew or even Barkley this week all still have him as Elite and not just because of his pass catching but his running back skills.Even yesterday his longest rush he had to break the tackle of Jalen Carter not every rb can do that. Some posters just want to cut him go ahead and he will have 3 to 5 teams pick him up quick and the Chiefs we're a team that wanted him before .You put CMC with Mahomes they win multiple Bowl's before he's done.

Pass blocking is actually quite good.

BRob is a fine player, but CMC is special. I understand people in this forum want BRob to spell CMC more during the regular season. But right now this is the playoff, CMC should be on the field as much as he can be.
