CMC: Don't Call it a comeback. I have been here for years!

Comeback player of the year or is it Darnold?

Darnold? What is he coming back from? The Vikings went 14-3 last year with him. Daniel Jones is more likely to win it, but CMC has a good chance.

CMC is a fantastic player. His season so far has been outstanding.

Amazing as a receiver, pretty avg as a rusher. 3.5ypc puts him as the lowest avg in the league for those with over 100 carries, ranks him 44th overall in the league. A little concerned that Kyle is also going to run him into the ground again with 229 touches at the mid way point so far.
The o line is the prob with the rushing avg and we pay him to play not save him

Same Oline and B.Robinson Jr has a 4.8YPC average. It's clear CMC is no longer as quick across the LOS as he once was.

It didn't look like that yesterday. CMC had a great burst and speed yesterday.

Robinson with that huge sample size? CMC looks just fine

3.5 YPC is not fine, in fact it's considered below average to poor for an NFL starter. In all honesty if not for the Atlanta game he'd still be around 3.1ypc where he was before that game.

He's not clearing the LOS with the same explosiveness he once had, his long for the year is 16 yards. This article while 2 weeks old explains the physical numbers but you can physically see it when you watch highlights of his 2023 season.https://www.ninersnation.com/san-francisco-49ers-news/151620/has-christian-mccaffrey-lost-a-step

Do you watch the game or just look at the box score not the same. CMC looks a lot quicker than B Rob and when B Rob they don't key on him like CMC that's why our offense as a whole is more explosive with CMC because he opens thinks up for other players that B Rob can't do.

Sure looks it on passing plays when he gets in the open field, he's not going to have the explosive plays because Hit in the backfield on most of running plays. You do know he was never a speed guy coming out he ran a 4.48 40 but the best rb of all time E Smith never cracked 4.6 so not to worry about his long speed.

What I don't understand is CMC is the only player that people worrying about his touches go to any other team and you never hear about a player having to many touches and why is that ?

Probably because other teams actually use a committee at RB. We draft and trade for RBs but don't use them unless CMC is hurt.

I hear you but , I still want the ball in the hands of our best player if the game is still in doubt. Cook actually avg more carries a game than CMC and Jacobs is right there with him. Only difference is CMC has the catches the other two don't have and that's not a lot of wear and tear on him like the run plays. His catches will come down once we get all of our receivers back.

The other RBs can't do what CMC can, especially not in the passing game. We need CMC to carry the load in the passing game because we don't really have anyone else.
