The team went 9-8 last year and the offense looked stagnant for long stretches of the season. They weren't making the playoffs until Deebo put the team in his back in the 2nd half. He did it for like 8 games and almost looked broken against the Rams but kept carrying the offense. I dont see it happening for the whole season.
Also we can talk about luckily bounces that kept them out of the Super Bowl but it is also took a lot of luck getting there. Look at how they won the Green Bay game. I don't see this as a Super Bowl team, never did.

You make solid points about the offense but are not accounting for the improvements on defense that make them a stronger unit this year. In my opinion it comes down to staying healthy, but that is always a major factor going into the playoffs for any team. I see no reason why we can't be in the mix for a playoff spot again this year and with a stronger and hopefully healthier defense, we have a chance.

That's the GMs job.

Trey ain't going no where, as evident how they dealt with Jimmy G this off season, they don't give up s**t for free.

Bosa will be resign and because Trey hasn't done much he might take a team and Cap friendly deal down the line so the team can be competitive for years to come, plus the team is super young at the core so there is no rebuild or retool needed. And if you haven't noticed, Lynch is excellent at bring Vets in to replace any injured players or needs and it has worked out mostly, for example they got to the NFCC with left over vets at CBs last season, this year they have 2 solid CBs.

Can you imagine this defense with Micah Parsons, and retaining the draft picks used for Trey? I hope my comment is laughable in the future with Trey winning some Superbowls and MVPs. I hope Trey is taking all the fair and unfair criticism and using it to fuel him like Brady or Rodgers would.

Maybe it works out in that when Lance is due up for an extension, he's not yet a top10 QB. So he signs a non top10 contract. Then once he signs the extension, he becomes a top flight QB and he's on a bargain contract. Looking for silver linings here.

I doubt it as well, but you gotta try lol. And yes the cap is going to explode and the salaries will explode with them. By 2025, Deebo is entering his final year, Aiyuk's rookie deal is up, Armstead is done, any rookies drafted before 2022 are at the end of their deal and the 2022 rookies are in their final year. Obviously a lot can change by then because who knows where those guys will be at in terms of their careers, productivity, etc. Now if he happens to take major leaps in 2023 or 2024 it will all be worth it and it won't matter, but again, just wishing the team could get the benefit of the rookie QB contract.

You can try, but he won't go for it, you pick the option up, it's not going to be that expensive, think like $18M-$20M, yeah that's a lot, but there's 4 tiers to the 5th yr option, he won't get the franchise or transition tag number, he'll get either average of 3rd to 25th highest salaries over the previous 5yrs or 3rd to 20th highest over previous 5yrs, so even at that amount, the 49ers aren't going to be hurting cap wise, as far as locking up guys long term.

I expect Aiyuk to be extended in 2024, Deebo in 2025, the one guys who will likely be gone would be Trent, only because he probably considers retiring, but I think he actually plays out the 6yr deal he signed, no signs of him wearing down, that yr off helped keep him in tip top shape/form.

I'm not going to question you on cap space, but it seems that's a lot of guys to hold on to. I forgot Ward is up at that time too. We'll see.

I don't buy into this whole SB window crap. Every single NFL team are in the same boat. Obviously some teams are worse off but we aren't one of them. Plus Niners have like 20 players or so on their 53 man roster that was drafted within the last 3 years.

i'm ok with trading Kittle... I love the dude but he is always hurt... Trey Lance has played 3-4 games and he has hurt his knee, finger and now broke his ankle.... not sure that is an upgrade from Jimmy G.

Running QB power will do that.

Resign Jimmy for 2-3 years. Trade kittle. Hell trade Kyle for picks since the media seems to love him and we can try to recoup some lost on lance.

Give Jimmy 2-3 more years to try to win then tear it down and start the 3 year rebuild. Reload and take another shot 2028-2030

Or how about do the smart thing and just develop the QB you traded so much capital for and be a SB contender for the next 12 years?

If Jimmy plays really well this year, then he will take the best offer on the open market. And the Niners also have to pay Bosa. So you would take Jimmy over Bosa?

After Wentz and Matt Ryan fails with the Colts, I am guessing he will go there for a big payday.
