Mobility-wise (edit: his physical skillset that is) he really seems a lot like Mahomes, so his impact is more in comparison to Garoppolo's non-impact on the running game.

Because he didnt shake the s**t out of Jaquan Brisker to convert a 3rd and 13 run.

Watched this earlier today. Excellent job man.

Kyle is breaking his back with these play designs. All for nothing with these idiots whiffing blocks. Ugh.

Well, you really gotta ask yourself why you're targeting your backup TE deep in a wet field. I'm using this play as a representation of the stuff the offense did on that day. They were up against a clearly inferior opponent and the bread and butter plays worked. Aiyuk played well as a pass catcher, yet he was targeted only 4 times.

Lance started to look bad in the 4th quarter when they had to pass on every play and the rain came down really hard. So Shanahan's supposedly conservative strategy directly lead to putting Lance under the exact pressure he was trying to prevent.

But that was on top of the core problem which jonnydel identified very easily: sloppy play. Playing overly-aggressive on that scale is on coaching. Several players whiffing on blocks they easily held the past seasons is on coaching. A substantial part of the players including Shanahan seemed to think it was the 4th preseason game. They seemed to be unprepared. All of that is on coaching.

Every time in any team sport an objectively way more talented team loses to an inferior opponent, it's on coaching, and It's not a new thing with the 9ers. Shanahan and his coaches seem to lose the team at least one game a year.

Flag for what though? The QB is just a normal runner once he takes off and only has the protection offered by the slide rule.

Unnecessary roughness? Driving players into the ground is generally against the rules. Also, I thought that jumping during a tackle was illegal, too.

I think you are putting a little too much on coaching. At some point players need to execute. I disagree when a player whiffs a block, thats on the player not the coach. Coaching gets the player in the right position, its up to the player to execute. Now if that player has continuously whiffs then yeah they aren't coached right or they just suck.

One of the missed big plays to the TE Kroft. I think that may be a bad completion to Dwelley, but possibly a big play to Kittle. It did not appear to miss by much, and maybe a smoother receiver makes the play.

That was my thought process also. Trey thought Kroft was faster than he is, George catches that and scores.
