SF 49ERS at Bears Pregame Thread - 2022 Season Week 1

The only way that I see us losing this game is if we turn have one of those " oops, another fumble" games. If we don't turn it over, I think our teams easily wins....we have more talent. Niners 33-20

I'm most worried about the field, not Fields lol. If we pile up injuries in this game (like we did in 2020 giants, Jets games) and the league does nothing to penalize Bears owners (just like 2020) I'll be sick.

I think they are changing the field to Bermuda grass. They supposedly started right after the last preseason game because of all the complaints. I sure hope that is true. Last year we lost a lot of players because of bad fields & Astro turf. I myself would like them to get rid of the fake fields. They are better than in the 70's & 80's though. Anyway let's hope the story is true.

I think Fields struggles against our D. I'm not worried at all.

Every time we face a mobile QB I see fans worried about containing him. Now that we have a mobile QB many of our fans are worried about him running and getting injured. Is being mobile a problem for the other team or is it a concern for our team?

Depends on the head coach. If you have an idiot head coach, its probably a liability. Put scheme advantage with a guy like Kyle, he'll kill you with it.

My point is we can't have it both ways. Many of us wanted a mobile QB and now we have one. We can't be worried about him running, whether to elude tacklers or on a designed play. There's a risk no matter what. Look how much Jimmy got hurt and he doesn't run at all. It's another weapon and one more thing that defenses now have to be concerned with.

I agree and hope Trey can make teams pay. With his mobility and stronger arm I hope Trey makes it a nightmare for DC's. We shall see. Look what that midget in Seattle did to us for years. My original post was more about Fields tiring out our D and just want our team to give him second thoughts or force him into mistakes.

Completely agree. I'm in Florida. Get to watch the Jags play well tho lol.

Injuries are a big factor in wins and losses. Look at how Jimmy's injury affected our seasons in the last couple of years. Fans have a right to be worried. Back in the dynasty days, 49ers were so deep we had talent that could only be equalled by teams like Dallas or Green Bay. Folks already knew it would be the 49ers vs Dallas in the Conference championship, even before the season started.

That's all changed now with the Cap. One injury nowadays - with talent evenly spread out - can cost you 3+ games if a player is out 3+ games. In our case, two seasons, because Jimmy was out extensively those two seasons.

Trey hopefully will stay healthy, because if he doesn't and Jimmy has been traded, it won't be a Purdy ending with a Purdy young QB at the helm.
Why is Fields so mad and calling this a revenge game? Is that because he thinks the Bears suck?
