I'd be good with Tony Romo mixed with better playoff performances because of less pressure to have to win the game on your own.
At this point any pro bowl caliber performance might do.

The 0-blitz 3rd and 10 to Kittle was the moment where I was like "OK, maybe we have something here!"
This is the one and should be #1. He knows he's going to get crushed, had to get it out quickly and accurately. No room for hesitation or error.

Fun fact, Brock said that he was only able to do that because of his off season work with his private coaches. They worked on stuff like getting it out in those situations. He's back with them right now 😎

You also have to look at the coaches we've had during those 20 years too. It's no coincidence that Harbaugh was the best coach we had from Mariucci to Kyle. With Harbaugh we saw Kaep shine until the roster purged.
QBs need good coaching. They just do. You're not going to have a franchise QB if you're hiring the Mike Nolans, Singletary and the Tomsulas of the world.
IMO you have to look at our coaches before we start questioning our lack of a "FQB" (hate that term)

Kaeps 2013 and 2014 numbers were virtually the same. Both those seasons under Harbaugh.
Then enter Tomsula in 2015. Purged roster and Chip Kelly in 16.
I'm not trying to say Kaepernick was great. I just don't think he got "figured out". He lost his coaching.

Sidenote. I was watching some Tony Romo clips. Purdy resembles him a lot when it comes to their style of play
