Agree, if Kyle can continue to work on more getting durable players. Super Bowl is up there in possibilities next year!

I think we go next year with a chance to win. I hate to face Mahomes. It's probably Mahomes or Burrow. But we have a chance anyway. Either way.

All he has to do is get healthy and come midseason depending on how well or how bad Trey is doing he can jump right back in and do what he started to do last season. What a find this guy has been! I just want both guys to get healthy and be all they can be and then we have good cheap problems that can net us another draft haul if we have to unload one of them

Kyle got lucky with Purdy, I mean the Kyle hit the lotto in franchise QBs,as far as my opinion is concerned. Us fans are fortunate to have Kyle as coach who's so dang *lucky* with picking his young QBs. (Luck is usually spelled W.O.R.K. )

I agree Kyle got lucky with Purdy but it's way too soon to call him a franchise QB. How do we know he's not going to be injury prone like Jimmy. Franchise QBs come along once every 5-10years. Some teams never get one. Look at the Bears. Purdy can be good and help this team win without being a true franchise QB. Just like Jimmy G.

I know, I know, but I'm an eternal optimist. But then again, very rarely does a rookie do what Purdy did last year. He was being compared to Mahomes, Brees, Brady, Rothlesburger etc... for his first 5 games by all the social media talking heads. I mean, his winning percentage is pretty good. Very comparable to Jimmy's first five games, and he's a rookie to boot! After Jimmy's first five games, Kyle was giving him keys to the Niner Empire, and paying him for being the Franchise QB emperor.

It's not that we have to face them. They have to face us.

It's not just about the wins. I may have a different definition of what makes a franchise QB. To me it's a guy that has the ability to carry the team. Someone who can win with average receivers as well as good receivers. I don't see that in Purdy. His arm is too limited and so is his mobility. I see him as a better Jimmy G as far as his football IQ but he's not like Joe Burrow, Herbert, Allen or Mahomes when it comes to passing skills. That's okay though because Kyle's system doesn't require a rocket arm to be successful.

Personally I don't see any deficiencies in his arm and while not Mahomes in mobility, he's pretty nifty in the pocket and in short area quickness. 90% of what a QB does is from the neck up anyway. I think that's where Brock excels, like you said, considering the system that he plays in. I can see him as a super bowl winning QB, and to win super bowls, your team (pretty much every squad is above average to elite). A QB with an average squad surrounding him usually won't get to the super bowl without much more. I think it's a bit of a myth to say that a Franchise QB has to carry the team - or he has to win with good receiver's vs great receivers. It's more that a franchise QB can *win* games he's not supposed to win games in - in a sense. Two ways for a QB to win games you aren't supposed to win - one is to just have a rifle arm and can squeeze the ball into tight windows or throw for 50+ yard hail mary pass for a last minute victory, or you can methodically control the ball and play keep away and win on the last play with creative play calling and creative passing. I think Brock is the latter kind of QB, and I think he can win a lot of games for the 49ers the way some of our past legendary QB's could.

Interesting to hear Brock's answer about Shanny's offense at 6:06. We always hear about how difficult this offense is to grasp and how it typically takes multiple seasons for QBs to get settled. Even Matt Ryan said it took him 2 season to get situated, but here is Brock, a rookie and the last freakin' pick of the draft, saying that he feels "Shanny makes it easy for a QB." I wish I could have a candid conversation with Shanny about Brock. I think he'd tell me he feels they hit the jackpot with this dude.

Loved this interview. So glad he got feeling back in his arm. Good questions asked. I am so glad he is a 9er!

Remains to be seen. Our schedule this year looked like it'd be brutal before the season started.

I don't necessarily agree with that. We have the AFC North and their best team we at least get at home. Other than Philly we will be favored at every road game imo.

Now that Bobby Slowik is the OC in Houston, would you trade Brock Purdy for their #2 overall pick??
I'd do it in a heartbeat then turn that pick into Will Anderson Jr of Alabama!!

Nope. I would trade Trey Lance though because he has yet to prove he can excel in Shanahan's offense.

Ok, but Houston has 2nd and 12th. I'd trade Purdy for both of those picks. I'd do it in a heartbeat then turn that pick into Will Anderson and Cam Smith of Carolina!!

None of those picks are a guarantee. What we saw from Brock Purdy was no fluke. No way we let a real chance at having a FQB walk out of the building.
