You are definitely mistaken on a number of fronts here, but the key place to start is you don't seem to understand that what's being reported here is an unnamed player's opinion. That's it. Very simple. It doesn't mean the opinion is factual or an accurate representation of everyone's feeling in the lockerroom... and it isn't presented that way.

I get that.. that's why I said it is anonymous.. point is MM knows what he is doing.. he gets a ton of interview to work with and cherry picks the most salacious out of context remark for click bait style engagement. Generous to call it 'reporting'.

It's not remotely salacious, lol. That word has a meaning. It's not even controversial, though I understand you think it is. We went through it in the 'put down' portion of the conversation.

I'm not picking sides in this spat, but I will step in to defend Maiocco. He never goes for the cheap click like a Grant Cohn or Tim Kawakami. He is so straight-laced and respectful he is virtually a Niners spokesman, and the reason he is the dean of Niners reporters is because he never throws the team or players under the bus unfairly. The fact that this report or tweet came from him suggests to me that it's more than just one guy's take and is a pretty broad sentiment in the locker room.

Yeah I would use the term controversial instead of salacious, but we're getting way off track here and I should charge you guys for this

Yep, I will defend Maiocco too. The report was not about one person's opinion on the QB situation, but one person's beliefs in the overall locker room's opinion on who the starting QB should be. That is a huge difference. I wouldn't be surprised at all if that anonymous person is a team captain.

Embarrassing if so.

When is Purdy going to make up his decision on which surgery to have? He waits much longer and he's not going to be ready until the season starts.

I don't know, just asking.
If it's Tommy John then it's going to be a long time before we see the same QB that we saw this season. Just a terrible end to what could have been the greatest story in league history.

Matt is reporting as of yesterday, that looks like the doctors are telling him to have the repair not the Tommy John surgery. Just waiting for Brock to make if official.
