I could see them look at taking one in the draft if there isn't a veteran they like.

We have no idea if it'll be six months yet. That's Schefter's estimate but it's only true if a repair surgery is needed and not Tommy John surgery.
If it's TJ surgery, you can kiss his 2023 season good-bye and here comes Brady.
Even in the best case scenario, 6 months is only recovery, he's not going to just jump in and be throwing like he did before the injury, its going to be another few months at least which pushes it into October.
Yup. This

He has a completely torn UCL, he's going under the knife. If he had a partially torn UCL he would probably need 4-6 months for recovery. Having surgery is the only way to repair a complete tear. So 6 months is probably the time needed for recovery unless they have to do reconstructive surgery which would probably be at least 1yr.

Now doctors need to decide between a repair vs. reconstruction of the UCL. This depends on the location & severity of the tear.
Repair = internal brace procedure, 6 months recovery
Reconstruction = Tommy John surgery, 7-9 month recovery

6 months IF surgery is not required.
In general, that timeline lines up with a likely UCL repair (repairing the ligament back to bone) as opposed to a full-on reconstruction (completely replacing the ligament) which has a 9-12 month recovery. Obviously will wait to hear the details from the team. #49ers https://t.co/RaLE3rHhhV

Or Trey Lance as QB1 and maybe another 7th rounder as a backup while Purdy heals.

Maybe. But Brock was great from snap one and you could actually see it. I haven't seen that swagger in a long time from a 49er QB. Apprehension and indecision, sure, but not in Brock.

Trolls are hall monitored like crazy in the Jimmy thread. Yet none of those hall monitors say a word when Trey (or literally any other player or coached) are trolled.

We'll probably carry 3 QBs again next year and sign some vet that's been a fringe starter at the worst. Brock/Trey will still be QB1/2.

Man so we are looking well into the season if he needs reconstruction and cautious recovery timetable. The QB situation again is a complete mess.
