Right, they had him play without thorough examination

Wonder if they will have the mri in Philly or back home at Stanford or something. I would think in Philly.

I was wondering the same thing. I hope it's Philly—means we'll get the news sooner.

I think medical staffs can typically can tell based on physical examination with high degree of confidence.

you cant

Physical exam is limited.

Right, that's why I was concerned some about bringing him back on. Especially, when I heard about nerve problems. Guessing mri with contrast to get a good look.

He ended up throwing two passes that were no worse than his practice throws on the sideline, so ultimately it won't have mattered.

It'll be tomorrow when they get back home.

Thats for something like an ACL. In my understanding, a UCL sprain and tear have a similar presentation. Until imaging is done, they won't be able to say definitively just how severe it is.
maiocco saying he doesn't think we woulda won even with a healthy purdy

Completely changed the tone of the game from positions 1 through 21. Not to mention JJ was shell-shocked as well.

Just another post-game expert that knows everything once it's over. This team having 2 QBs go down already and bouncing back was a feat in and of itself. I can't imagine the "here we f****in go again" feeling all of them had to play through today.

Good grief, what a terrible take from MM.

Well we still would have had to deal with the 1 sided officiating. So he might not be wrong. It definetely would have been a close game though.

Hoping for no surgery for Brock.

He uses unconventional arm angles to throw and I wonder if that would exacerbate the recovery process.

Maiocco is just being emotional. He was absolutely gushing about Purdy a couple weeks ago and as much as he tries to remain grounded--he loves the 49ers. Maybe he thought Shanny's blocking scheme was too disastrous to succeed...or something to that effect.

That's the end of his career. He needed all the arm he had which was serviceable in the NFL given his other talents, but if he has to have Tommy John surgery he's done. Feel sorry for him, poor kid. All because Kyle had to be cute and try and block a top pass rusher with a 3rd string tight end on Brock's back side.

This is really cataclysmic. Purdy was looking like our guy, he had the intangibles, flashes of Joe Montana. Now he's gone. Kyle should be too, that was a pathetic showing in and NFC championship game.

it always comes back to blaming kyle lol

david lombardi even blamed the fumbled snap not on josh johnson but on kyle

Of course he did.
Man. I feel like I would be 80-90% over this loss by now if not for this awful news.

I really, really hope he's ready to throw within 2-3 months. And if he isn't… what do we do? Just suck it up and roll with Trey? But even then, we can't trust any of these guys to stay healthy at this point. People are going to talk about signing Brady… but knowing us Father Time will finally win and his arm will fall off the moment he puts our jersey on.

It's just hard to be optimistic when no matter what we do we can't get any stability at the position. Purdy was looking so so promising and now this? It probably would've been better for him to just blow chunks today but come out healthy honestly.

Hoping for some good news tomorrow I guess
