Who knows. I know that Brock did and if he wins two more games Trey can hold the clipboard and continue to develop behind Brock. If he doesn't we will have a QB competition with two young healthy studs competing for the gig. It sure looks to be a promising future at the position with both a 23 and a 22 year old there

This is the game and the one we drafted Lance for. Since he is out Brock gets the opportunity to show right here right now that he can get us over the hump and win these next two games.

If you can't win these games it doesn't matter if you were lights out in the regular season against mediocre to garbage teams. Don't curr about elite play unless it is in these two games vs the best teams in the NFL.

This is where it matters.

Do it Brock. This year you're our only hope.

It's debatable to say we would be here with Lance (even Jimmy) but it's not out of the realm of possibility if they had major improvement throughout the season. I worry that they'd turn the ball over against the pass rush we have been seeing - even Seattle had really good pressure against us. Regardless - I get what you're saying whether if I agree or not.

This game really does have a chance to put Purdy in a realm of immortality. lol its fun to think about but he is going to have to earn it. It'll be awesome to watch and I have a ton of confidence in Purdy and this team!

Obviously it hasn't been an issue up to this point and is obviously still a small sample size when it comes to Brock Purdy's pass direction tendencies. But it is something to keep an eye on for the longterm.

That dime he threw to Aiyuk against the Seahawks in the back of the end zone would have increased the passer rating had BA caught it.

I would have preferred to see that tomorrow and a connect.

Yup. Aiyuk said he owes Purdy one so this is the game to get it back

That would be.. epic.!! I love that our team has shown those kind of flashes, but I hope we can finally capitalize on it. If there's been a game where we need Purdy go play his best ball yet, it's this game. I'm confident we are going to pull it off - us 49er fans have seen what Purdy is capable of and how unique he is… it's going to be awesome to shock the world!

No he isint.

Well he's objectively 6'8" so I'm assuming you're talking about getting pushed into Purdy's lap. You're right, it's not EVERY play (I know how much you love technicalities). But a lot. Maybe most. Definitely a "tendency" lol.

It's not every play or almost every play. I say this because sprinkling a little truth in here and there IS actually a healthy thing for the board.

Most lists have him as a higher FA get than Jimmy G, actually. Can you believe that?

Lol no I can't. Let's bet who makes more money this off-season.

I would argue that the amount of money someone gets paid isn't a direct indicator of free agent priority. A lot of teams will need a RT and have the cap space to pay him. Where as a handful of teams will target jimmy, most likely.

i imagine a few teams have jimmy as a high priority but more teams will prioritize McG. Just my opinion. I think both gets paid.

What you got your guy signing for? You've been dodging this question since the "He's better than Josh Allen" stuff.

It'll depend on if teams like the packers move Rodgers. I can see a team paying him $25M-$30M on a three year deal or so.

it'll be interesting to see how everything falls into place this off season. I hope he goes to the AFC - I think there is a good chance he goes to Vegas. He can bang all the porn stars he can dream of.

Dodging what question? I don't have the same obsession you do with Jimmy, sorry. Coming off his injury, it's hard to say. He was on track for a $35m/year deal before he got injured, so that's probably the ceiling. The floor would probably be $20-$25m on a short term prove it deal. I'd be shocked if he had to settle for a backup role/money. But I'm sure that's your dream scenario, along with Purdy throwing 4 picks tomorrow, so you can say I told you so.

Plus I said Purdy is better than Allen, not Jimmy. And because you ALWAYS need context, I'm talking about Purdy + Kyle in this team vs Allen and the Bills. Not the archaic method of "scouting" based on height, weight and arm strength.

Right- 71.1% completion, 6.2 YPA, 2 TD's, 1 INT with a 78.4 passer rating.

The only area on the right that he has a passer rating above 90 is BLOS. If you subtract that he is completing 63.3% of his passes for 6.6 YPA, 0 TD's, 1 INT with a 62.7 passer rating.

Wow, great stuff YAC,, and thanks. So what's going on on the R side? Is it just purely poor pass pro on that side?
,

Someone brought up pass pro and MM but his pressure rate has been elite and has only given up 1 sack in the last 8 games. It must be something else.

Big Trent and Banks are on the left side. Those two are a good pair of run blockers. I'd be interested in how many runs are successful on that side and see how many play action passes are executed on that side.

Reason being the run fakes may be more effective towards Trent side, hence more effective throws to the left also. Just a thought.
Camelot awaits!! Today is your destiny young Brock!!! Go Niners!!!

All true.

But the standard is a SB victory. Jimmy couldn't get over the finish line. Purdy is way ahead of schedule, but this may be his best shot. Lance is still waiting, unknown whether he can get all the way.

No rookie has won this game. A win would be historic and a loss means you're probably not assured the starting job next year.

Right

Now I'll pose this to everyone. Raise your hand if you don't think Trey can be at least as good as Jalen given more than 3.5 games playing time?

I'm willing to wager that Trey in his second game vs HOU last year was better than Jalen at that point his rookie year than Jalen was. I also believe that given time to develop Trey will be good

Now with Purdy, this is exactly why he needs to beat Hurts and Mahomes or Burrow. Even as a rookie is because he is older than Trey and he has played more than Trey and if we think Purdy can still grow then so can Trey

BUT

If Purdy wins it all then he will have gotten us what we've been chasing and THEN we can hand Trey a clipboard but if not there will be a QB competition this off-season

My hope is Purdy wins out and we get a chip and afterwards we'll have some good problems to deal with

We'd be in this same game if Lance was starting. Seattle is not good and only needed more than 12 to beat the Cowboys.

LMFAO there is no chance we would be in the playoffs if Lance did not get injured in week 2. We would have lost the first 6 games and he would have got benched.

Due to Lance's unfortunate injury JG stepped in and stepped up and won 70% of the games he started this year. Then Purdy took over and is undefeated.

Even if we do not win the NFC championship Purdy is starting next year. There will be no QB competition between Purdy and Lance as there does not need to be one. Purdy is so much more advanced than Lance right now that Lance will not even get a look in.

If Purdy wins tomorrow and wins the SB Lance will be looking for another home because he will get zero first team reps for years to come. You need to be more realistic and stop being such a Lance Tragic. That train has left the station and won't be coming back.

It might have something to do with the play calls. The way the players move from one side to the other etc.

I was thinking Kyle also might be calling the play side more to the left (e.g. more receiving options). But not sure.

I hope Kyle starts getting a bit more creative than he was with Dallas on his calls. It was rather predictable and Dallas were all over what he was doing. Time for some new plays that they don't have on film yet and let Purdy surprise them.

I'm super curious how the team and Kyle are going to talk about the starting position for next season once this season is over. I don't think they say anything about it initially.

i am with you that I think Purdy has locked up QB1 for next off season but you never know. It could definitely end up a competition but I feel like Kyle hated splitting reps. Lol
Like Tom Brady said regarding Purdy

Time to prove them wrong or Time to prove them right.

They will use the regular line of "everyone has to compete for their starting job in training camp". But Purdy will be the starter going into training camp and it would have to take extraordinary events for him not to be the starter game 1. That doesn't mean he couldn't lose his job with really poor play in the regular season.

Sure anything can happen but the odds of him regressing are very small. He is on the way up and at 23 has not even reached his prime. Imagine what he will be like after two full seasons behind him? Barring a nasty injury this kid is going to keep improving with experience.
