QB Brock Purdy Thread

Need to reapply the lucky horseshoe to Brock - it's running low.

Brock was fine, they have a monster defense/pass rush and we're all over him and the receivers. The big windows weren't there today, he was threading needles when he could but Dallas has a great defense. Not turning the ball over and moving the offense was good enough to win. He's not going to light everyone up. Just have to look at this game and light up Philly next week

didn't watch the game...thanks for nothing, NFL. years ago, the second game was at 10pm European time. so much about "winning the European market".

whatever, according to what I read here, I don't see any big problems. Do what are you discussing???

Here's a tip - subscribe to Game Pass - turn 'Show Scores off'. Set your alarm early. Take care not to get any spoilers - this means staying away from browsers / email / texts (turn your phone off). Watch game as live but time-shifted to a more reasonable hour.

If you still have a full day of work ahead of you then you might want to skip the beers!

Agree. I also think Shannahan has to devise some new plays. They were getting a bit predictable against Dallas. I could even see what they were going to do a fair bit of the time. I was stoked Purdy did not make a turn over or throw a pick. The sacks were inevitable but he stopped big losses. The Eagles will also be tough but their defense is not quite as fast as Dallas's.
Dallas defense was all over the run game early. Consequently there wasn't much PA could do to jumpstart the passing downs. Purdy still made some critical throws to move the offense but that wasn't enough to punch it in the endzone. He did well just to eat a sack at times and not play hero ball and turn the ball over. This is the type of close battle game we want Purdy to have going up against progressively better teams.

It was only in the 2nd half late in the 3rd and the 4th quarter that the run blocking got better against Dallas with a TD drive and a couple of 1st downs to take away more time from Dak.

How about Kittle's catch from Purdy's dart. That was awesome play from both of them
Brock completed 63.6% of his passes on 3rd down and converted on 45.5% of them with his arm. He may not have been flashy but he was keeping the chains moving a high rate.

I would like to add that 8 of the 11 3rd downs that Brock attempted a pass were 3rd and 7+.

Both defenses were playing great. But Purdy out-played Dak in that he had 0 pics. And Dak is considered a top 10 QB in the NFL.

He outplayed Dak without throwing a TD. He is unflappable. That was an 80's-90's slugfest and he didn't flinch. Kyle was all over the place in the first half. He'd hit a big pass then slam to a hault with a run up the middle for nothing. Quinn was doing a very good job of taking advantage of the rookie in the first half by bating him to roll left. But now Brock has seen the best that the NFL can offer defensively!!!

Dak is middle of the pack maybe top 12-13. He stares down receivers and has mediocre field vision. So inconsistent.

Man, as I read and heard of what Kyle, Kittle, and Purdy talked about that play, it epitomized the trust between the players and coach. Especially between the young qb and Kyle. Kittle wasn't supposed to be out on a route but when Purdy rolled out and couldn't find anyone open, Kittle was heads up to go out, find an open space, and Brock had enough vision and moxie to let it rip quick.

No way Kyle after seeing that wouldn't trust Brock to do the right thing. Later on, empty back field for Brock to throw for a critical 3rd down conversation to run down the clock on Dallas.

Heard Olsen say something about how Dallas was trying to funnel him to the right side (maybe left can't remember) because he seems to have issues on one of those sides throwing the ball? Did anyone else catch that?

No. I did not catch Olsen talking about it. But Brock does tend to roll left a lot and he has better statistics throwing left as well.

To his left. Or the defense right. When he scrambles that way hes struggled.
