Yep about the big arm fixation, like with Favre, ppl compared Tom's physical traits to him and ppl were very reluctant to give him praise, even after he got a trophy. Guess he proved them wrong.

Montana, Tom, Brock are more cerebral type players that display finesse and thoughtful use of their bodies, the bigger guys can rely too much on physicality to get things done. If Brock had Allen's body, would it mean we would have the perfect qb? I wouldn't be fast to say yes on that. I think there is a certain drive that "smaller qbs" have because they are aware of their size and how that plays a part.

But I am not sure why the strong focus on the arm size when goats like Montana, Brees, Brady all were "smaller" in structure.

It's actually pretty simple. Scouts and fans can see a players size. They can see a guy with a strong arm. The cerebral part of the game is much harder to measure. You can't really tell by watching college ball because the game is quite different. College QBs don't need to be able to process as quickly becuse they aren't facing defenses nearly as good as they see in the NFL. That's one big reason those QBs were all passed over in the early rounds. The guys with the physical tools get drafte dearly because teams hope they can become an NFL QB. They envision a guy with Allen's physical tools and Brock's or Montana's mental part. It rarely happens because the guys with the tools want to use them instead of their brain.

You can understand why they think that way though. Imagine Josh Allen with Brock's discipline and abiity to process. Unstoppable.

This.
Allen will never process at the level QB1 does. BUT, because Allen was drafted high, the media ignores all the times he choked in the moment...

Our 13 has got the moment covered, just has to get there. Kid is a straight up assassin.
It's insane some of you think Josh Allen is a dumb player, lol. It's like you guys don't actually watch or like football.

He's a smarter Tim Tebow with stronger arm

Dumb people don't fool others into thinking they are an elite QB

There's a difference between being dumb and making dumb plays.

Brother, every player is capable of making a dumb play here and there… but the players who make them consistently and/or frequently are in fact dumb players.

He didn't play well in the playoffs last season, but outside of that I don't think so generally*

I don't follow the AFC that closely but in watching the highlights of his games it seems like he can be counted on making at least one boneheaded play a game, like putting the ball on the ground when there's no one within five feet of him. He's big and strong and is a bulldozer when he runs but part of me wonders if that's because, like Kaepernick, maybe he doesn't play that well from the pocket and has more faith in his ability to run someone over than he does to stand in and deliver the ball where it needs to go, other than on long bombs down the field. And so far, he has shown himself to be incapable of getting it done when the stakes are the highest.

15 fumbles in his 15 post season games

4 lost though. Ball on the ground a bit, but hasn't actually resulted in many turrnovers especially given how much he handles the ball. The guy averages 50 yards a game rushing over those 15 games, to go along with 250+ yards passing. Rarely has interceptions. He's been one of the best playoff QBs in football, probably second only to Mahomes (who also has had a much better team around him).

He's top 5 in win percentage. Top 7 among active QB's in 4th qtr comeback (with only Mahomes and a handful of 35+ year olds ahead of him). Among the top in 4th quarter go ahead drives, game winning drives, game winning drive percentage...

He's been pretty good in the clutch.

doesn't matter if they were recovered or not. his fumbles have killed important drives forcing them to settle for FGs. not having his fumbles result in turnovers is mostly luck. you CAN NOT put the ball on the ground against defenses in post season. you can downplay this issue but he's been reckless with his handle.

but only ONE 4th quarter comeback in his 15 postseason games and that was last year.
I don't think Josh is dumb, I just think my qb can perform better under pressure

Looks like a neck & neck Brock vs Josh for MVP. Maybe they gotta play in the SB and settle this SBMVPurdy

This is largely in part because his defense gives up the game in these situations consistently. In drives that have occurred in the 4th quarter, with 3 minutes or less and the Bills down by 8 or less, Allen has successfully lead a drive to go ahead or tie in 66 percent of his opportunities (4 of 6 I believe). The Bills have won 1 of those games.

To the fumbles, just to illustrate a point let's count every one of Allen's 15 fumbles as actual turnovers. Across 15 playoff games, combined with his 6 interceptions, he would have 38 total touchdowns to 21 total turnovers. Brock Purdy across his 8 playoff games, has 9 total touchdowns and 6 total (actual) turnovers. That's again pretending Allen had 11 turnovers he didn't actually have. Pretty sure we all think Purdy responds well in pressure situations right?

The Bills have averaged 27.5 points per game in Allen's playoff starts. A lot of those games with bad weather conditions. His defense has only allowed less than 27 points in a loss once, and that was his first trip to the playoffs in his 2nd season. The offense has rarely been the problem.

Basically everything you could possibly look at outside of the Bills actually winning the Super Bowl points to Allen being a great player in pressure situations, regular season or playoffs.
