Well Herbert is great in Jim Harbaugh's Neanderthal Schembechler offense, but that's not going to win you superbowl's nowadays. The rules just favor the pass too much. Those Air Coryell type offenses kinda has been bypassed or relegated to the dustbin of history since the '90's.

Mike McDaniel has to turn Jim's stone age offense into a modern shiny precision and timing offense, and that won't happen in a year (or maybe even two) considering the player mismatches in that Charger team.

I never understood the lovestruck folks for Herbert. I reconsidered some when Young was speaking highly of him but I couldn't get on board with it fully. Maybe he is just on the wrong team for him? Coach? I just don't understand lol

Herbert is tall, handsome, and has a rocket arm. That's the level of analysis of most fans lol.

Side note he's dead last in the NFL in QBR and 30th in passer rating.

Herbert may have just been drafted by the wrong team. He had some bad coaching when he started and they lost some key players on the O line as well as some key receivers. He's taken a beating. I think a lot of people may not realize he wasn't a highly recruited QB out of HS. I think he was a 3 star guy which isn't high for a QB. He was a local kid that went to Oregon and had his ups and downs there. He was drafted high mainly because of his size and athleticism. He wasn't a polished QB even at Oregon.

Purdy is giving me a foot fetish. Every time I watch his highlights I just notice how beautiful his footwork is. He moves so fluidly.

He is clearly good enough to win a Super Bowl. Which is all that matters for team and fans.

Perhaps. QB/coach fit is highly underrated. But no way in hell would I swap Purdy for Herbert.

Yeah I mean how many different coaches/OC's has Herbert had? I find it hard to believe each one is incompetent The next coach comes in and they will mess him up too? No way.

He is the common denominator for the last seven years. He is a good to very good (at times) QB. He is not, nor ever has been an elite QB. Everyone wants him to be. But he just isn't. Having a rocket arm isn't enough in the league.

Yes, I have noticed his footwork looks more polished for sure. Nothing beats Montana for footwork but he's close
