I agree 100%. Per the author of the article quoted above, I'm not sure how somebody "works: on their durability apart from making a concentrated effort to stay out of harm's way, which isn't really how the game is played.

Brock unfortunately will always have questions by people looking at his draft slotting and his size/arm strength. It is what it is. Funny thing is every time I see a new QB based discussion on twitter and someone posts up a chart/ranking there is Brock, usually on the good/great side of that chart. Like this hilarious discussion about Jared Goff being good under pressure leading to a guy post up rankings for each QB when kept clean and when under pressure.

i like goff from uc berkeley days but he's not that great a QB. he's fortunate to have been paired with mcvay and then a fortress OL in detroit with a pro bowl team of skill guys. wouldn't be surprised under the hood if detroit was considering an exit plan on goff just like mcvay did. going back to his playoff meltdown he had clean pockets and was throwing the ball straight to the commanders

Though my takeaway from this is that the #32 QB in the league still has a better EPA/dropback from a clean pocket than the #1 QB in the league when pressured. So pressure matters a lot.

pressure is a interesting stat tho everyone knows a elite qb can process quick, get the ball out quick, and technically get less pressure due to his own elite play. while a bad qb will hold the ball, not trust their eyes, and invite pressure. maybe half of pressure is on the qb imo, and half on OL or scheme. when it comes to playing fast between the ears brock is elite

Worth noting that Matthew Stafford is 22 worst against pressure, which is something I've always noticed about his game and why I'm not as high on him as many. He throws a great ball but he REALLY doesn't want to get hit. You can see it in his eyes and body movement when he knows the walls are closing in. He'll throw the ball up for grabs or try and make some half-assed over the shoulder pass to keep his jersey clean. Maybe it's a holdover from his Detroit years. If Osa and Halton can push the center of pocket and knock him down a few times I've no doubt his true colors will begin to show.

Personally, I like my QB to stay cool under pressure, which is why Joe will always be my favorite. I'll even give Kurt Warner some props in that department. Honestly, I don't know how he survived Mike Martz's offense. It seemed like he would get absolutely blasted about five times a game, but he would always hang in there and take it.

That's always been his thing fortunately for him and unfortunately for the rest of us is with McVay and that Rams offense they've made it easier for him to either have lots of quick options or pass pro to help that part of him from coming out too often.

Do you really believe that Osa and a bunch of scrubs are gonna be able to pressure the QB on a consistent basis?

I've always noticed that Stafford throws picks when he's under pressure. I said it during the NFCC against us, he is primed for a pick if we get pressure. BOOM he threw one right to us and we dropped it. He did that a ton in Detroit.

Now, Stafford is a tough SOB - I'll give him that. he took an insane beating when he was in Detroit and I don't blame him for not wanting to get hit. that trait will keep you in games and seasons. I'd actually prefer brock throw some balls away to not get hit - that's how we keep him over the course of a season and several years.

I think Stafford is really good, He's had a HOF of Career - but I dont see him in the echelon of Brees, Brady, Manning, Montana etc. Last year he had a really good year but the entire league was decimated besides Rams and Seahawks. The year he won the superbowl, our dumbasses gave it right to him. Insane.

This is how I feel, I'm not knocking Aaron Donald - dude was a great player, but I never understood the hype of him in the games I'd watch. He'd abuse the s**t out of bad teams but I dont remember him ever making plays against us. He may have a good year but I dont think a 35 year old who hasn't played in 2 years or even remotely trained for football in 2 years, is going to be some game wrecker.

Working out and doing football activities are 2 different things. I'd be a little surprised if he even plays week 1.

1 great player can/does make all the difference. One who consistently beats double teams, and they may have two now.
That 1 player forces the QB off their spot, and now the angle for every other rusher changes, which often means the OL that was winning just lost.
If Bosa returns and is able to win inside and outside, a pure speed rusher opposite can make a killing(Romello Height?).
Then all you need is a big stuffer just slowly collapsing the Guard in, and West can do that, hopefully Collins can as well.

Otherwise you have just explosive speed rushers in Halton and White that can maybe blow up any 15< yard routes and runs allowing Warner and Greenlaw/Duggar to feast on the 5<15 yarders creating tips and overthrows.
