Brock can pass Jimmy, Kap, and Alex this season.
The last three QB's that we were sure would be the next franchise QB.
Well, unless you count Trey. Poor guy.
I think because of our history I always believe we have found the guy. Didn't help that Jimmy and Brock came in so hot. Of them all, I had the highest hopes for Kap. He pushed the ball down the field, could run like the wind (more straight line speed though), and really carried the team.
I think if people look at what he had around him in 2016, they'll see that offense was backups and guys that would be out of the league in a year. He certainly was capable of being an average QB, even after he was figured out. I wished could've had his own Andy Reid (it wouldn't have worked with Kyle).
With that said, Brock will easily be number 4 on the list. If he goes higher, that's great for us.
Kap looked to have everything you wanted in a QB. Huge arm, big legs, production, clutch play, playoff performance and he seemed like a really humble and intelligent young man.
Then things turned and he looked more like Jalen Hurts than Patrick Mahomes. We found out through comments here and there that he wasn't taking the right things seriously. Working on his body and running ability and not as much as film study and the mental side of the game. Not much changes in his ability to layer the football or throw with more touch and little by little the shine wore off.
I still remember Ron Jaworski saying Kap could become the best QB in the history of the NFL. Guy looked to be trending sky high after that first half a season and even after year 2...then poof.
I always wonder what would've happened if Kap stayed loose like he was when he was a rookie. I remember reporters talking about what a change in his personality they saw as a rookie vs when he became the starter and Harbaugh's closed off like demeanor rubbed off on Colin.
Maybe he would've been more open to people giving him suggestions and less inclined to do his own thing and prove people wrong.
