Nice comeback this year, ugly start but a very strong finish. He is the least of our problems. Serviceable qb who will get smarter and better with time. You feel for a qb that's stand in and has absolutely nothing to throw to and when he does the o line breaks down. This is not a good team. Old, injured and out matched at nearly every position in the trenches. Skill guys are non existent outside of an aging TE and an overused RB. You can put Josh Allan on this squad and have nearly the same results. Only so much a qb can do to overcome soooooo many holes. Speaking of Elite QB Josh.. he missed some critical throws yesterday… it happens to the best of them. Parting shot. #1 defense and a smart offense with healthy weapons beats the practice squad 100 out 100 times….

and not that dumb ass Farrell is insane and just another reason why this team is where they're at it's stupid front office decisions like giving Farrell 3 years 11 gtd. I think Kyle is a great coach but it's his stubbornness and philosophies that piss me off.

You saw how Seattle dominated last game of the season and you place the fastest WRs we have in Watkins and Cowing inactive and not just switch things up? But you think a not fully 100% Pearsall is going to be a main difference to go along with the slowest group of WRs in the league and you bench Jordan James all year and he plays and you see flashes. Not playing rookies on offense pisses me off to no extent, there really isn't no point of drafting a wr on this team since it's a waste of a pick at least year 1

I can't disagree with that. I don't know that we have slowest group of WRs in the league. Jennings is literally one of the slowest WR's in the league but he finds ways to be successful. Robinson isn't slow. He just isn't consistent or that great.

But other than that you're right. Jordan James had one carry last night and it was for 7 yards. Now, it was some type of draw or delayed hand off and I think we caught Seattle a little off guard. But he still hit the hole hard and showed burst.

We had Malik Turner who I think they said hadn't caught a ball since 2021 or whatever on the field last week. Now, let me say this. I'm sure he's a quality guy and he absolutely is one of the most talented football players in America. He made it to the NFL. But there's a reason he hadn't caught a pass in that long. Relative to the talent in the NFL, he's not very good. You don't know if Watkins is good and you barely know if Cowing is good. You know Malik Turner is not.

The only thing I will say for Kyle is it isn't is if these guys generally speaking go elsewhere and blow up. Danny Gray didn't play because he obviously wasn't good. But even so why draft these guys who you feel will add something to your team and not play them? It's either a talent evaluation problem or a player development problem that you don't even put them on the field. Or it's both.

Usually when the 49ers lose you can look directly at things Brock didn't do or mistakes he made for the reason they they lost (not always the only reason).. Yesterdays game he looked good and we just didn't have the talent to get past Seattle (and also Shanahan called some dumb plays in crucial moments).

Yeah I haven't seen or paid attention to all of the responses after last night but anyone doubting or blaming Purdy is ridiculous. Not saying he's a perfect player or QB. Actually no one is. But he did everything he could to try to single handedly keep the offense in the game last night. What you saw last night was probably not altogether different from Bill Walsh watching Jeff Garcia at San Jose State. Only relative to level of competition Garcia might have had slightly more to work with. And San Jose State was terrible.

You had a quarterback with no running game and no pass protection. Who, even when he did have pass protection still had to stand or run around forever because no one was getting open.

I hate to say it and don't hate to say it. NFL fans in general have just gotten incredibly dumbed down when it comes to quarterback play. And I'm not an expert by any means. But they think only elite QB's can win a Super Bowl or a team wins one only or primarily because of their QB. Obviously he plays a key and critical role. But if next to nothing around him is going right, he's not going to win anything. You saw that first hand with Mahomes against Tampa Bay and the second time against Philadelphia.

How is he not a asset to this team

No doubt he doesn't know/won't respond. Or will have some mindset that a quarterback is supposed to be nearly flawless making spinning backhanded throws while hopping on one leg and closing his eyes and throwing a dime into the tightest window imaginable before being buried by 4 defensive linemen.

Yes I'm exaggerating. But it's probably not that far off. Some ridiculous almost unachievable standard that few if any quarterbacks hit consistently.

We don't even make the playoffs without Purdy's play down the stretch. We maybe lose to Carolina or even Cleveland without Purdy. And regardless, while CMC and the running game appeared at times, for much of the time it was Purdy willing a bunch of marginal NFL starters to win. Kittle obviously is great. CMC is still a good player but not great anymore. Pearsall can't stay on the field. Robinson is meh. Jennings is solid. The line is Trent Williams at the end of his career and mostly a collection of clowns. McKivitz has become acceptable. He's a version of McGlinchey in that he's a pretty decent run blocker who doesn't hold up the best in pass protection. Puni I think is still a good player just didn't have the best of years due to injury and inconsistency. LG and C are dumpster fires.

But we can always nitpick Brock. It's more fun I guess.
It is disheartening that we could not get a single TD in 8 quarters against the Hawks two games. But still a lot of good. He should continue to grow and games like last night should help.

Yeah not sure why folks are upset with Purdy. That's what I'm assuming here. I'm envious of what Schneider and MacDonald has built in Seattle. And they f**kin have more cap space than us next year ($67M to $40M). We're probably not going to compete with that machine for the next couple seasons as we are now old and have so many holes. But it starts with the trenches. We need to be able to run the ball and we need to exert pressure so let's shore up the oline and ensure we can bring constant pressure. Having Bosa and Mykel next season should help tremendously, and with our run defense which sucks ballz.

Exactly. Tom Brady said as much but posters on here know qb play and ball better than him 🤣
We must definitely need to revamp the WR room with more speed & separation guys going forward. I don't care about the size of guys Purdy just needs guys who can help him out so he doesn't have to make a perfect pass every single throw & can create explosive plays which really hurts this offense

And they did it with Darnold in his 1st year, not having to pay him huge money. Reminds me of what the Ravens did when they won it with, was it Dilfer? They built a good team and just had a serviceble QB.

Too many people equate speed with being a good receiver. Some of the best receivers in history weren't super fast. None of the super fast sub 4.3 guys are among the bet all time. Jaxon Smith-Njigba ran about a 4.5 40. Puka Nacua ran a 4.57. Even the great Jerry Rice wasn't nearly the fastest receiver in the league. Getting open is about route running and the ability to get off the initial block. You rarely see any receivers anymore that just run away from DBs.If they do the QB usually doesn't have the time to throw the ball that deep.

We did get our ass beat. In all seriousness, I doubt a change at QB would have made any difference.

Mac would have been sacked more that's for sure.

Mac leaves on a stretcher if he plays. He would not have been able to run away to save himself.

I am so tired of hearing we need to draft fast WRs. We literally do that every single year and it doesnt help.

Speed ≠ good

Get us some good freakin receivers!!
