You have got to be kidding me.

All week it was "Eagles pass defense is even better than Seattle's pass defense"

Now it's "well the Eagles pass defense wasn't that good"

Just admit it. You will never, ever give Purdy his props. He played an elite pass defense on the road in the house of the defending champs and gave us the lead when it mattered. The two INTs were bad as I mentioned but given the quality of pass defense and circumstances, he played a good game not a bad one.

Brady/Lawrence/Russel Wilson play like trash for 3.5 quarters and then win against inferior opponents and it's "well THEY WIN AND GET IT DONE WHEN IT MATTERS!!!" Brock plays fairly well with two big black eye errors for 3.5 quarters, then delivers the game-winning drive and it's "well it wasn't all that good…"

Oh, I see we're back to the "air yards" debate. Jimmy's stats didn't count because his receivers were getting all of the yards. The QB executes the plays to the best of his ability and tries to put the ball where the receivers can maximize their yards after the catch, that's the way the game works.

Someone posted above that Brock should have just eaten the ball on his picks or taken the sack. I don't think he had a chance to do either of those things on the first one and I thought the second one was a pretty good play by that corner. Brock plays to win and while you certainly always want him to be smart with the ball, you can't take away the thing that gives him his edge, which is his aggressiveness.

I thought one of the 49er commentators made an interesting point the other day which was that Brock is never going to be a QB who throws for 30 TDs and 6 picks in a year. He's going to be a QB who throws 28 TDS and 14 Picks, because a lot of Kyle's offense takes place in the middle of the field and relies on tight window throws. That's probably what caused a lot of those head scratching picks by Jimmy, who I think relied more on his quick release than his ability to see the field and throw with anticipation, the way that Brock does. Brock is also far more elusive in the pocket and, apart from the physical traits, is the QB they probably hoped they were drafting in Lance. Go Niners!

I generally think you are a good poster, but every so often you post a doozy like this that makes me reconsider.

Jesus man.

Let's not get extreme here. His two picks were really bad but overall given the competition and who was available he had a great game.

We had the 3rd most passing yards allowed by the Eagles this year without Aiyuk, Pearsall and Kittle being injured early in the game...all while putting up the 4th worst rushing numbers against the Eagles this year.

Those YAC yards you're quick to somehow take off Brock's shoulders are there because he's identifying the matchup and making the throws with anticipation and accuracy. Not easy to do against a defense that good.

But yes it's a team game and the defense came up huge against competition that wasn't great. It was good on good and bad on bad. Thankfully we came out on top but Purdy was a large part of why we did.

I knew when I finished my comment tha tit would get Purdy lovers going. I'm a Brock fan but this wasn't a good game for him. He completed 58% of his passes which is low by his standards. Those INTs were bad thriws and not tipped passes that ended up in a defenders hands. He made some good throws but you expect to see more good than bad. He identified matchups on those YAC throws but Robinson is the one that turned a 15 yard toss into a 61 yard play.

I'm certainly not saying he played really poorly. Just not a good game. Be honest. If thise INTs had turned into 10 points or even 7 instad of 3 the game has a different outcome. This game was won by a defense that has been an issue for much of the year. They stepped up and kept some really good recievers on check. The backup LBs played an outstanding game. Plus you can't ignore that perfect pass from Jennings to CMC. Maybe the best pass of the day.
Purdy showing he can come back in the 4th, on the road, in a Playoff Game.

Mark that off the things he has not done yet.

Lol if Lamar/Mahomes/Allen had that game winning drive and throw to Christian..nobody would be saying that. Even with the ints ppl would just be glazing all day over that. IT IS OK to say Brock is good lol. Yes, the ints had me smh. But damn, Kittle goes out and one might think that would shake him mentally some. They are friends/neighbors/party buds haha and they seem to have a tight connection on and off the field. Doesn't get emotional, doesn't shake him mentally, Brock gets right back to it..with an impressive throw and completion iirc.

Dude doesn't have Pearsall, Kittle, little B Aiyuk..and still Brock and Shanny found a way to win. It's just impressive on a creative level, a precision level and an execution level.

Why ppl say Brock is good..like they are holding in a fart? All uncomfortable and holding back..let it go lol. It's ok to say he is good lol. When Kittle went out, dude, I was like..we are down to a half stick of bubble gum and two cotton balls. I didn't think we would come out with a w. But everyone just showed the hell up. It was great.

Russell Wilson threw 4 INTS and had a 0.0 passer rating for 56 minutes of a playoff game yet everyone worshipped him after the game.

Purdy plays decently against one of the best pass defenses in the entire league on the road in the playoffs with only two bad plays and it's "he didn't play well."

I've never seen the goalposts get moved so much for a QB. Ever.

Why is getting yardage with YAC bad again?

that made no sense at all.

They didn't have Aiyuk all year and Pearsall has played about half the time. Even Kittle missed some games. They should be used to not having them by now. Their receivers are still better than Buffalo's. Allen made a TD throw yesterday with a guy in his face while falling backwards. It was a 30 yard rope right on target. All arm. That was a great throw that very few QBs can make.

Brock throws the "you shouldn't make that throw" pick

Jimmy threw the "did you even see the linebacker?" pick

Just lol I gotta think this was the main intent. "Purdy lover", sorry yes, you're damn right lol and you're missing out on it and reality. The ints were bad ok but what you're doing here, in part,..and what I fully expected some would do..is to take away BP's accomplishments because of Jennings. Maybe he should start as QB1 lol

No Kittle, no Aiyuk, no Pearsall, no Cowing..no Bosa, no Warner, no Mykel, and I know I am probably missing some? Lol..so that takes the "he needs an all star cast around him to do anything" out the window. And ppl still dnt wanna give the guy flowers. I would rather have a baller that doesn't hesitate and make a mistake here and there than to have a dude play scared, second guess himself or get the deer in the headlights eyes. The game never gets too big for him, that's what I love about BP. Yes, he needs to work on the ints and throw away if not there. Not perfect. But we have a damn good qb1.

I thought about making that comparison too, there is no need though. I dnt need to bring up Jimmy's imperfections to kinda prop up BP. Jimmy was a good qb for us for a while.

Pfffft..lol and sure enough, Josh Allen, so predictable..bye bye haha
"Brock threw two picks so he didnt play well."

Caleb Williams threw two picks on Saturday and everyone and their mother has been sucking him off since their game ended.

I see it differently than some of you. I'm not taking away from what he did. I'm merely pointing out that it wasn't what I would call a good game on Purdy's part. Not a bad game but not as good as many he's had. Don't be afraid of a little criticism. Purdy knows he could have played better and I'm sure he knows those INTs were bad. He led that game winning drive which certainly can't be over looked but neither can the bad stuff. It was a slightly below average game for Purdy combined with a good game by the receiving corps, the O line pass protection and the defense. Kyle and Saleh both had good game plans. In the end Purdy didn't need to have great game. Just be good in a few spots.
