QB Brock Purdy Thread

It's asking so much of purdy to try to do it all with no running game.

Mcaffrey was 8 carries for 13 yards in the first half... And it didn't get much better after that. He's absolutely done as a runner.

They need to move off him quickly because purdy cannot just try to air it out every game with this receiving Corp and zero running game. It's just not going to work.

People are wild. 49ers won a SB in 1984 with Montana throwing for 7 TDs and 5 INTs in the playoffs.

Montana was picked off 3 times during The Catch game but weirdly no one ever brings that up.

Purdy delivered when it mattered most against an elite defense.

Different eras, interceptions just aren't nearly as common these days.

That said, I think Purdy played a good game today all things considered. The interceptions were bad, but I think it's admirable how Purdy will never stop slinging the ball even when he's had a few bad plays.

Far from perfect and the ints were bad, but he did come through in the clutch and that was against a top defense in tough conditions without some key weapons.

He took out a talent-loaded Fangio defense with a late touchdown while Jennings and McCaffrey were his only weapons of note and he was frequently under siege. Guy is clutch right when he most needs to be.

This.

what? INT are only down by ratio AND you must take into account the softer Defensive rules now.

Mahommes, Allen and Stafford all threw 3 ints in a game this year.

The 2nd int I mean you can't just go into a shell. Didn't love it with a te vs a good CB but whatever. I thought he had some extremely impressive throws, especially considering the weather/opponent

It was a horrible throw so it's still his fault.
If he can eliminate the one JG throw or two
a game he would be insane. Can't afford any mistakes next week.

And Demarcus Robinson.

Yeah he has to be on all game. And he needs Pearsall to be available.

That is what I thought about it as well. First throw was simply a terrible decision. I thought Purdy played really good apart from two bad decisions. And unfortunately for him the defender capitalized on both of them. The trying to force the ball is the one thing that has gotten Purdy into trouble this year, but I am confident Purdy will continue to get better with the decision making as his career advances. Another playoff win added to Purdy's resume, against a great defense, the defending champion defense might I add.

That's a little drastic. He just had a 43 yarder a couple weeks ago. I don't care what their run D is ranked. It's tough to run on them with a healthy Carter in there. You're being over dramatic about CMCs running abilities

The interception rate is overall down. It was around 4.5% league-wide in 1984. Now it is around 2%. I'm just saying you can't easily compare stats between eras, because passing is easier now.

Still, I don't want to sound like I'm criticizing Brock, I'm not. He was the way better QB in this game.

How many runs over 20 yards has he had this year? What's his ypc? I think he's had 2 maybe 3 runs over 20 yards. Hell I think he's had less than a dozen runs over 10 yards.

I'm not being dramatic. He really is that inefficient as a runner.

He had one big run against the bears and one big run the week prior. That's it. Out of 300+ carries.

He's cooked. There's no burst left. There were a ton of plays tonight that were actually blocked extremely well where he ended up with like 4 yards.

He was 8 carries for 13 yards in the first half.

With no deep threat, everyone just squats in the box on first down. If you stuff the run on first down, and put them in second and long, the offense tends to get stuck. It's not CMC being washed, it's no deep threat that forces defense to be honest on over playing the run on first down. Watch what happens when we get Pearsall back
Brock needs lots of help. OLine, TE, RB, #1 WR. And that is just the offensive side of the ball. The DLine needs and ER, WS and SS LB's, FS, at least. I love Brock's mentality. He kind of reminds me of Favre. Brock has confidence and is very intelligent. And there is a need for guys to be available in order to be successful
