QB Brock Purdy Thread

He actually needed to play like Mac Jones, instead of Brock big play Purdy. Quickly take what was available and keep moving forward.. forcing the linebackers to move up closer, instead of just dropping back (like they did most of the game).

Then of course the middle will eventually be open.

What seemed to be open against the Seahawks were short passes over the middle, and corner routes. They covered up middle and the flats (why you saw their dbs blasting our check downs)... the middle defenders stayed disciplined and didn't move with Purdy's helmet.. just kept get depth, waiting for recievers to come back into the middle.

It's amazing how 10 people can watch a game and all of them see it differently.

Proving the early critics right unfortunately.

Which of Mahomes Super Bowl years did he not have a good defense and receivers?

So the 9ers lost to the Bears?

Mac would have gotten blown up though. Purdy barely survived, even with his pocket awareness and running ability.

Can you show what plays were available to be made without just blanketly saying he needed to take what was available? I have seen multiple posters make this claim without showing anything.

Mac would have taken what's there vs purdy and the hero ball. Would it be enough to over come a 10 point game?

I mean Jonny touched on it today. Those middle defenders just stood back and stayed in their area, when Purdy was trying to look them off. I'm sure you watched some of the replays from behind the QB, and you could see the linebacker just backing up in the middle of the field.

One of the few successful passes was the corner route (to Kittle I believe)... after both the CB and Safety ran with Jennings on a Go Route (which was hilarious to see actually).

From what I saw, for most of the game Purdy, was waiting to see what was happening in the deep middle of the field, then would come back down... but by then those other defenders crashed down on said checkdowns... later in the game he was quickly taking those checkdowns, and we did move forward. But when he didn't, he got sacked which made the distance even further to convert on the next down.

We made some calls to try to adjust but the oline was slow in helping. Like someone mentioned, calling a screen pass to Kittle on Pleasent's side .. Kittle got blown up and we lost like 6 yards.

You just can't make any mistakes against this defense...especially if you can't threaten them deep.

On one play, we called a play action.. and it worked, the middle was open for our reciever. But Brock bailed a sec too early, even though he had space in the pocket.. and imo, the usual Brock would have threw that pass with anticipation. But after constantly seeing coverage over there and the pocket closing in, he just wasn't his usual self to trust it.

Yes I mentioned Brock should have played like Mac in this game... but really it was the play calling as well. The Seahawks were prepared for our usual stuff, and Kyle should have anticipated that. Kyle tried to finally adjust with screen calls and corner calls... but that was later in the game, and mistakes (CMC int), just derailed the rally.

Maybe, but what it would have done is help rest our defense. no?

I might start a thread on it this offseason, but I feel many of our fans, analysts, media haven't/don't take defensive fatigue as serious as it is. Physical fatigue, which can also cause mental fatigue/lapses in key moments.

This.
Sounds like ppl wanna fire Kyle, fire Lynch, trade Brock but keep Mac Jones. Makes sense.

lol when did Purdy play hero ball? He had 19 completions for 127 yards. His only turnover was on a ball CMC flubbed. There was nothing there. Didn't you watch the game? Mac would have taken nothing because there was nothing. 🙄

I think we need to take advantage of Purdy's legs. Have a designed run early. Make the D worry about something new.
