Of our 12 wins only one came outside our division against a team with a winning record. Given our historic defense i wouldn't realistically expect a lot. Just sayin.

12 big wins - soon to be 13 - yet the thing that matters most is the "only one."
They keep achieving, but here there is still so much un-believing.
How about we stop measuring those teams they beat, and even lost to, and try to measure their HEARTs?

Brock, among others, is showing the fun he's having, smack dab in the middle of games at that. The fun that a certain "elite" QB said he is not having.
Let's ride that fun train with him and with our team. And BELIEVE!

Dude pixie dust has nothing to do with hitting your coverage assignments.

I agree with you that there is a special X Factor associated with our defense that nobody can quite figure out. And I value it. And I applaud it. But special punch-outs and white elephant turnovers aren't going to hack it against a team that is effortlessly gaining chunk plays every other down. So I think the mental game needs to be there and it's too inconsistent right now.

Ironically I don't think that our competitive disadvantage is going to be maximized against the Seahawks. Their division opponent so all bets are off. We know what they're going to do they know what we're going to do. So I think we have a better chance of winning this weekend then we normally might if we're playing a team that we don't Scout twice a year every year for the last forever years. Go Niners

its interesting to note that the bottom 7 teams are all in the playoffs. Weird.
I'll admit, I thought bringing him back this year was not a good idea due to the potential seriousness of his turf toe injury and the way the offense was clicking with Mac Jones. Very happy of him to show me how wrong I was. Turf toe however severe it was seems to be completely in the past and he is on FIRE! Keep it Brock!

Without Stafford the Rams probably don't make the playoffs. Without Purdy the Niners probably would with Mac albeit not as good.

You sure do love to make points based on nothing but hyperbole.

Guess with better skill players, OL, defense and health Sean McVay wouldn't be able to coach his Rams to the playoffs with a terrible QB like Jimmy G?

And that's why McVay is a better coach. Saw what he had with Goff, went out and got someone that could execute his offense to a tee. Meanwhile Shanahan went to bed and decided to draft Trey Lance to make up for missing out on Stafford.

I see…so Sean McVay wasn't good enough to get more than 3 points in a SB with a former #1 overall pick so he's a better coach because he went out and traded for a better former #1 overall pick because he couldn't develop or you know COACH up the other one?

It's just wild how your brain works. Just insane logic.

We played last place team in several divisions.

We still have one more game to play.

We only play 3 games a year based off of your previous year's standings. This year was NYG, CLE and CHi. CHI isn't a cellar dweller this year. So really only 2 games this year you can claim as playing last place teams.

we got two bottom feeder matchups from our division --our especially bad cardinals team (3-13). Also saints and tenn (3-13)

not sure how it worked out this way but we got to play 5 games against the bottom 5 teams (cards 2x): giants, browns, tenn cards (2x). no raiders.

The only teams we have beat with a winning record are rams and bears.

This is a bizarre take to push. 49ers have played in the toughest division in football and we played Arizona before they lost a ton of their players to injury as well. They came into that game 2-0 while we had backups all over the offense and lost Nick early in that game on top of it.

Rams played the Eagles(yeah that's a tough one) Ravens missing a bunch of guys including Lamar Jackson and Lions also missing a huge chunk of their roster due to injury.

They also got us with a ton of backups in a game they lost and in one of the most lopsided injury reports got us again where they clobbered us without Brock.

Seattle played Pittsburgh, Washington and Vikings with their 3rd string QB.

Browns just cuz of their defense and weather was arguably a tougher game than either of the non PA games for Rams and Seahawks.

We also didn't get to tee off on a beat to hell Rams/Seahawks in our games. So cut the schedule narrative please.

Especially when the Rams lost to Carolina and Atlanta and Seattle lost to us(hopefully as a sweep)

I wasnt saying anything about Seattle or Rams. Just us.

We played five games against the bottom 5 teams in the league by record, . That is true.

Of the teams we beat, only rams, seattle and bears are over .500. That is true.

We beat Seattle with Bosa and Warner. We beat the Rams with Warner.

We no longer have Bosa and Warner. That is true.

I don't know the ins and outs of the Seahawks or Rams season.

What you are implying is that they inflated their records through happenstance (like us a little bit?)

Maybe. I think we have an even shot to beat Seattle because we have scouted them so much over the years.

We can outscore them, but if our defense can't force a single punt, I dont see us winning 3 straight in the playoffs.
Defense forced punts against the Bears.

Defense forced 3 punts and a field goal against the Bears without 2/3 of their corners. I'd hope they can force at least force a couple against an inferior offense in the Seahawks.

My main point is schedule shouldn't be used to dog what this team has done in this division. Nobody looks at the Rams/Seahawks schedule and says they're not real threats.

You can go down all our loses and outside of the Rams 2nd game one we could've won each game if a couple of things go our way.

Now we'll find out on Saturday how they match up again vs Seattle and then obviously see how the playoffs unfold for us….hopefully with lots of home games that we win.

When did he have the MNF monkey? Lol did he lose one game or something? Haha all of these monkeys..guy should quit and be a zookeeper.

People definitely brought it up in the Colts pregame thread. Hopefully this "monkey" falls the same way.
ok. The last punt we forced against bears was 2:17 in 2nd qtr.

BTW, here's the punts we forced in every game:

  • Sep 7 @ Seahawks: 5
  • Sep 14 @ Saints: 4
  • Sep 21 vs Cardinals: 5 <--Nick
  • Sep 28 vs Jaguars: 5
  • Oct 2 @ Rams: 2
  • Oct 12 @ Buccaneers: 3 <- Fred
  • Oct 19 vs Falcons: 3
  • Oct 26 @ Texans: 2
  • Nov 2 @ Giants: 5 <-Mykel
  • Nov 9 vs Rams: 2
  • Nov 16 @ Cardinals: 3
  • Nov 30 @ Browns: 4
  • Dec 7 vs Panthers: 4
  • Dec 14 vs Titans: 3
  • Dec 22 @ Colts: 2
  • Dec 28 vs Bears: 3

All I'm getting from this list is # of punts has very little correlation to winning/losing/margin of victory

I mean… we're 2-2 when we force 2 punts and 10-2 when we force 3 or more punts. So tiny bit of correlation there? But you have to account for turnovers, FGs allowed instead of TD's, end-of-half stops, etc.
