Lombardi has his moments but I absolutely hate when he puts down elite QBs to prop up Brock. It's not needed at all. Brock has his own resume with this team which is what we should all care about.

Matt Stafford is a top level QB in this league and he's insanely talented and good. I hope we find a way to beat Seattle Saturday and then hope that someone else takes out the Rams so we don't have to play them with our defense. He's that good and without a pass rush to trip him up(like any QB) he will shred us apart like he did last time we played them and we'll have to hope we outscore them with having the ball last.

Brock has an opportunity to continue to wake up the doubters who won't give him respect until he puts up those huge numbers against a top level defense like Seattle.

It won't be easy. They will make stops and we'll have to punt a bunch of times. However we need Brock to have a game similar to the Browns game. Make the plays in big moments, protect the football and just get the job done.

I'm confident he can do that but the guys around have to be locked in and make sure they're coming down with the tough grabs or the contested catches. Seattle D is excellent. We have to be better. Simple as that. We need that #1 seed and it's there for the taking. Take it and run with it!

For real. I like David's commentary and info he provides but I also think he overly relies on data. Data is important but you can't always tell the complete picture when using solely data. A lot goes into a players evaluation and there are so many variables in football that it's hard to break it down with only data.

according to Lombardi, tua would of been "elite" a couple years ago if you just used data points, which is a joke.

an example is the bears vs 49ers game, DL said it was an "all time great game", I'd disagree. It was one of the worst defensive performances I've ever seen in nfl history. There was a ton of god awful football in it. Great offense doesn't make it a "great game" IMO. It was an exciting game, but does that classify it as an all time great? Idk. Not to me. A great game is great defense vs great offense and they're slugging it out. Great offensive plays are stopped by great defense and great offensive plays are made while the defense has great coverage etc. that to me is an awesome game to watch

Remember that terrible Rams-Chiefs game from 2018? People said similar things then. American sports are weird in that way. Or at least football.and basketball are. I can't fathom a 19-18 soccer match being described as great.

Both Purdy and Stafford are great QBs. But what bothers me is Stafford gets 100% credit for their success and 0% blame for their Failure. With Purdy it is always the opposite. While I am not saying that Purdy is playing better then Stafford. I can try to make the case.

Obviously Purdy has played for half a season and Stafford a full season. But It is pretty shocking how comparable their stats are.

Passer Rating
Stafford 108.8
Purdy 104.2

YPA
Stafford 8.0
Purdy 7.9

TD%
Purdy 7.8
Stafford 7.5

Completion %
Purdy 69.3
Stafford 65.2

Brock has played 8 games. Stafford 16 so we can easily adjust other stats to see what Purdy would be at it if you doubled his current stats in certain categories.

Passing TDs
Stafford 42
Purdy 40

Rushing TDs
Purdy 6
Stafford 0

Passing yards
Stafford 4,448
Purdy 4,080

Rushing Yards
Purdy 252
Stafford -2

Sacks
Stafford 22
Purdy 16

INT
Stafford 8
Purdy 18

Their numbers would be pretty comparable if you were arguing MVP. Obviously the one thing that jumps out is Brock throwing twice as many INTs. But I doubt Purdy would average that many on an entire season. Although it is pretty amazing that he is averaging that many more INTs and their Passer ratings are that close. Also these Stats are with Purdy playing games hurt and coming back from injury.

But here is where you can make the argument for Purdy.

Purdy is 7-1. With wins against the current #1 and #2 seeds in the NFC. His only loss came against a playoff team which he tried playing injured. And he still threw for over 300 yards in that game.

Stafford has Puka and Davante Adams. A RB currently with more rushing yards this season then CMC. And a much better defense.

With all that going for Stafford and still their stats are comparable. All that and the Rams have a worst record and the 49ers are currently playing this week for #1 seed. Purdy is simply doing more with less to work with.

100%, those games are fun and exciting to watch. I understand that - I just personally don't consider those games "all time great football" games because there was a lot of bad football played - mainly on defense.

if someone feels different and/or prefers those games, that's fine. Lol I just said that I didn't feel that way. I like to see teams have to make great plays against great coverage and vice versa. To me, great execution by both teams on a consistent basis and it's a dog fight are great overall football games.

Regardless, it was a crazy and intense game. Glad we won it because boy fans would be rioting if we did lose. lol all you'd see are comments about how bad defense played and numerous cut ups of it

right, it doesn't have to be one or the other. Brock can be a top notch QB and Stafford can be a top notch QB. At the end of the day, Stafford has a ton of accolades, a SB, and his team in contention for it again as he's nearing 40. Give him time and he'll hit any throw on the field anytime.

I'm nervous, but also eager, to see how Brock does against seattle. Seattle has one of, if not the, best Defense this year. It's a divisional opponent with everything on the line. Either get home field and a bye week, or book your flight for Philly (most likely). Brock has been ballin outta control and if he can do that against a top defense again, with the gravity of this game, that'll be special. Cause i dont think we win unless brock and the O have a big day. 30+. I think they can do it.

I think we surprise everyone and drop 38. final score 38-28 49ers. let's make it happen.

And watch out next week after the 3rd straight 5TD performance from him (something I guess very few QBs have managed to do) and the 38-17 win over Seattle with the resulting 1st seed for the playoffs

Haven't seen one person claim stafford benefits from mcvay, puka, devonte, etc

Brock will never shake being tied to Shanahan, it's always a " ya well kyle makes purdy look great"

Lol so true. Guilty of it myself 😂
Joe is often tied to Walsh..cause they were both great and together, they were a force. When I think of Joe, my next thought is usually Bill. And vice versa. They were the best that did it and they did it together. I don't see anything wrong with mentioning Shanny and Purdy together.

But I get it..lots of glazing for 1st picks and guys that have rings..but don't worry, pretty sure Brock will get his, eventually
I hope this Shanny and Brock duo get several
