QB Brock Purdy Thread

I'm going to say it without hesitation: if Brock continues this level of play, he will be my 2nd favorite Niners QB of all time. So many "fans" on this board whining about Kyle not being able to win the big game, but they are obviously too young to remember when Steve Young couldn't beat the Cowgirls. It's gonna happen eventually with Purdy, may not be this year because the defense is so decimated, but it IS going to happen.

I honestly don't think I've ever seen him play this good. The last few weeks. He looks legitimate top 5 right now. He's playing like a true Brock_STAR.

The Cowboys were better by a lot. People that think Steve Young was choking don't understand football. That was one of the best rosters ever assembled. They were doubling up on 1st and 2nd round picks from the Hershall Walker trade. That team was absolutely loaded with talent. They were better and expected to win most of the time. The one year we added all kinds of FA's including Deion is when we won. LB's and edge pass rushers too. We barely could over come them 1 time. But over the years they really were the better roster.

Passer rating is a bogus stat. It looks at raw numbers and compiled a rating based on that. It doesn't take into consideration things like dropped passes, tipped passes weather and so on. AI saw one game where Herbert had a rating of 130 and he hadn't thrown a pass beyond the line of scrimmage. Two screen passes that went for scores and big yardage. Then you throw an INT that your receiver bobbles and it goes into the defender's hands. The QB gets blamed but it's the receivers fault. QB friendly systems like Kyle runs allow for a lot of short completions that are relatively easy throws. Naturally with a higher completion % and all those short throws and the YAC that comes with it the QB will have a higher rating than one that is asked to make a lot of high risk throws.

Those are just some of the reasons that passer rating is bogus. Total QBR was created to try and correct the faults of passer rating and is a little better but even that has it's faults.

Where did I say anything about passer rating? Someone said they had never seen that kind of back-and-forth shootout in a 49ers game before, I was just offering up two other examples.

How about in a league of his own. No QB is playing like Purdy right now. Not a one.

Gotta love the level of confidence and conviction Brock is playing with.

How about in a league of his own. No QB is playing like Purdy right now. Not a one.

He really is playing the best right now. Throwing touchdowns and running touchdowns. If he plays like this we have a chance. But he has to play out of his mind. Because our defense is so bad.

On the last TD pass, he had Ricky Pearsall and Brian Robinson wide open but he went for the big uppercut with JJ. It shows you how confident and how good he is right now. It also shows why Kyle loves him because you can be sure that it was exactly what Kyle wanted Brock to do on that play.

Yes, Brock is the best QB heading into the playoffs. What an amazing turn of events from the start of the season.

And what Brock did last night is crazy because now he is doing it minus his main weapons. In my book, he wasn't top 5 until he could make whatever he had on the field good. Beating the hawks would
easily place him in the top 5. Winning a Super Bowl with this injured squad would place him at the top. He would surpass Steve young in my book. He would
become legendary overnight if he could somehow carry this broken team to a Super Bowl win,
