Tacos and Rolexes
Times have changed. I think Aikman mentioned on the MNF broadcast that he bought his oline custom cowboy boots. 😂

Aikman didn't make $260 mil. Although I remember QB's used to buy their OL Rolex's back in the day too. IIRC Barry Sanders bought his OL Rolex's after his 2000 yard season.

5 weeks? The SB is closer to 7 weeks away.

How long ago did it happen?
- The injury happened on October 12, 2025 (vs. the Buccaneers).
- As of today (Dec 26, 2025), that's 75 days ago (about 10 weeks, 5 days).
How long does that kind of injury take to heal?
For an ankle fracture/dislocation that needs surgery, "healed enough to play NFL football" usually means months, not weeks:
- Post-op rehab guidelines commonly don't even begin higher-impact / sport-specific progression until ~4–6 months, assuming healing is on track.
- Research on athletes after surgical ankle fractures shows some can return as early as 2–4 months, but many take longer depending on fracture severity and stability.
Can he make it back for the Super Bowl if the Niners get there?
Super Bowl LX is Feb 8, 2026.
That would be 119 days (~17 weeks, ~4 months) after his Oct 12 injury—right on the extreme early edge of return timelines for this kind of surgery/rehab, especially for full-contact linebacker play.
What the local reporting has suggested is basically: the 49ers are letting him rehab like a comeback is possible, but it's considered unlikely.
So: possible, but a long shot—and not something you'd plan on until there are clear practice/clearance updates in January.

Those watches retail for about $12K each. If he bought 10 (I assume he included the backups) that comes to $120K. That's about 2.5% of his salary this year. That's about the same as someone making $100K spending $2500 on gifts.
Nice jesture by Purdy but when you put it in perspective it's not that much. Next season when his new contract kicks in he could by one for every player on the team and it would be about 2.5% of his salary.
Every time we see a story like this it's another reminder of the obscene amounts of money these players make. Fans have become immune to the numbers as they keep escalating every year. I liked the story about him giving vehicles to needy families more even if Toyota was donating them or giving him a discount.
