The construction just obviously looks like an open door for injuries. So stupid. The NFL is just such a turn off, for a while now.

Adrian Martinez, its time for your Purdy moment.

Meh, he will probably get injured first drive lol

There has to be a Fake grass option that would be even better than playing on Regular Grass. You would think someone would of thought of a better way by now.

Other team play entire seasons on artificial turf, and get by okay. If it was such a big deal injury wise, I'm sure owners would switch to natural grass in an instant.

We're just cursed when it comes to injuries. We could have our guys playing in a bounce house and half of them would end up on concussion protocol

Not really

I don't think it's that he can't play. I'm guessing they just want to wait until it isn't causing any pain. If Jones was the guy they just gave a big extension to and Purdy was the backup things woud be reversed. Purdy would be needed to go in and gut it out the best he could thre way Jones is now.

It is all about the maintenance cost of natural grass.

Reports of other teams' players expressing concerns about how their bodies feel after playing on turf fields have been raised but the league has "quieted" them down.

It is telling that a couple of turf fields that will be used for World Cup games next year, at the insistence of FIFA, will switch to grass fields for soccer games but switch back to turf after the World Cup games are over. Think about that!

The nfl generates unreal revenue and would be wise to ban artificial turf. The injuries are mounting. Fans don't pay to see cool Joe on the sidelines.. there is more than enough money to invest in player safety. It's a question of priorities.. player health vs outrageous margins..
Turf might be part of the issue but I don't think it's the major issue now. As someone else stated the soft tissue issues are mounting accross the league. There is something real out there in regards to scheming, sports nutrition and training. And as I've said weak preseason and camp. The body on these guys insane but the body not made to handle such abuse. What's available to these guys now vs a decade or two ago for training not even close.

I used to blame just turf but it's so much more now not really understood and if it is they are keeping quiet.
It's not just about injuries with the turf. It's the chemicals. Players PFAS levels double after playing in that trash. It's horrifically unhealthy.

There's probably s**t tons of microplastic ingestion too. The little beads they put in the turf to recreate soil.

It should be banned 100% due to being a multi level health hazard.

Maybe contract plays into it but the injuries are also very different. Mac's injuries I'm sure are painful and limit his already lacking mobility but Brock's injury actually impacts his throwing mechanics which is a lot harder for QBs to overcome.

Absolutely the NFL needs to BITE THE BULLET and SET THE STANDARD FOR PROFESSIONAL FIELD SPORTS and mandate only grass fields outdoors or in domes. After resodding maintenance costs will be what? 3 mil for personnel and 10mil for care and maintenance per field per year. In other words BUBKES! Watch the CTE cases go to zero. And cartilege/ligament injuries drop 15%. DO ITT! Its the humane thing to do.

It's not crazy when you recall that a toe took out the mighty Patrick Willis.

Ancient Burial Grounds

I heard a report once that Jimmy G String got an injury (deep scratch) by drying off with a rough / coarse towel after a shower

Any injury to your lower body can impact your throwing mechanics. I'm sure having a knee injury and wearing that brace aren't making it easy for Jones. He also has an oblique injury that kept him out of practice. Neither one is healthy. The real difference is one is being paid to be your satrting QB and the other is being paid to be his backup. Who afre they going to be more cautious with?
