I doubt Brock plays against Atlanta but while I felt Mac gave us a better chance to win the Rams game with the guys we had available and with what the Rams do well on defense...I feel the same way about Brock in this one. I think Mac's lack of mobility and Atlanta's pass rush and speed may be a tough mix for us. Hopefully getting Kittle back can ignite our stale running attack because it will be key to keeping Atlanta's rush off Mac if he's out there.

Overall this NFL season is very odd. I'm 50/50 on this game. Can easily see us winning it can also see us get our ass kicked. Big unknown now with Fred on defense.

This season is extremely odd. It's mid-October and it feels like pretty much any team that is 3-3 or better (there are 20 of them!) can win it all this year. If you go by standings it looks like we're heading towards a Bucs/Colts Super Bowl (just as we all expected!) but even they don't look invincible. The NFL is wide open right now which makes the Bosa/Warner injuries all the more frustrating. I hope we don't throw the towel in just yet the season is still young and the league is still too open. If there's a year where an injury-plagued team can still win it it's this one!

Look at the games last night. Atlanta beating a supposedly better Bills team and the Bears beating the Commanders on a last second FG. Teams are up and down this season.

I agree that Jones is less mobile than Brock. Especially now with that knee issue. However Brock was sacked 31 times in 15 games last season. Jones highest number was 34 in NE. If you look at their numbers Purdy has been sacked at about the same rate as Jones in their careers. Some of that is because Jones has a quicker release and Brock will run around trying to make plays. Unfortunately that's what sometimes leads to Brock throwing an INT.

The bottom line for me is QB hasn't been the problem with the offense. Back to back 300 yard games for Jones. I doubt Brock would have done any better with the group of receivers they have now. I'm way more concerend with the D and lack of pressure on the QB and lack of turnovers. No INTs in 12 games. Hard to believe.

Stout had a clean INT and it was stolen from him. I will die on this hill.

It's not just about mobility to avoid sacks. It's to threaten defenses as well. It's similar in a way why we can't rush Kyler Murray the same way we can Matt Stafford or Jared Goff. Brock may not run as much as Kyler but we've seen him avoid clear sacks and make plays with his arm or on the ground and it impacts how defenses attack us. Especially with fast but young rushers that Atlanta has a QB who can avoid that quick pressure and create puts much more on the plate of that back end.

But you're right QB whether Brock or Mac is far down the list of our issues right now. If we can't communicate well on defense and continue to have all the coverage breakdowns it will be tough sledding regardless of the offense we're playing, especially one loaded with talent like Atlanta has.

I really doubt that other teams worry much about Purdy's running. He can scramble when needed and avoid taking a sack but big gains are rare. His best season he gained a little over 300 yards. His best game was 56 against Dallas. He had 4 games where he was under a lot of pressure and ran more. In those games he gained over half his season total. My point is he's not a running QB that teams worry about.

2024 was the first time we ever actually saw him take off and run that much. Teams weren't expecting it so he was more effective. He isn't likely to be running too much with that toe issue. Easy to injure that again.

That may not get better until Puni gets well.

Like I said he's not Lamar Jackson or Josh Allen out there but last year he had 5 TDs on the ground. His ability may not scare teams but it's still something they have to account for when rushing or defending in the redzone.
Brock returning to practice but "more limited" than Jones, according to Kyle.

Looks like Mac v Falcons then potentially Brock in a better space next week.

I hope not, we need Purdy back already. It's nothing against Mac, it's just I want to see the $265 million dollar QB out there.

We are 5-1 if that happens

I hope hes almost fully healthy.
If it's Brock out there I really hope Kyle uses a similar game plan like he did with Mac. Short stuff underneath and take what the defense gives you. Part of that is on Brock too. Just take the easy throw.
Right now it probably doesn't make a lot of difference who is at QB. Both are hampered by injuries that limit their mobility. Getting the running game going would help but until Kittle and Jennings are back and healthy it's going to be hard. Both are good blockers on the edges.
