My god this fanbase has lost it

Yeah its sad. Aside from a couple bad throws he played decent yesterday considering his whole supporting cast he's used to is out. Not to mention he has no run game to lean on right now.

Not too many QB's can overcome all that. Maybe 3 or 4 in the league right now. But some of our fanbase think they are a dime a dozen to come by.

Look up his stats and record in his last 17 games (a full season of games) it isn't pretty
"Back foot Purdy" Even when the upfront blocking is good, he throws off his back foot WAY too much. He's floating & sailing too many balls high. Fundamentally, this has to change or this team will continue to suffer.
No one is saying Purdy is a terrible QB. We're just saying that he's more consistently average without a lot of help.

Alex Smith did more with less. I would take 2011 Alex over Brock easily right now.

I will be fair to Purdy in that his numbers yesterday should've been a lot better. The drops were ridiculous. A touchdown and two huge 1st downs were wiped off the board. But the multiple hospital balls and overall inaccuracy yesterday was inexcusable. Very Jimmy like. The fumble was inexcusable.

You have to let it rip against zone. Brock kept looking for the kill shot and by the time he accepted it wasn't there, the pressure had arrived, allowing everything underneath to get swallowed up.

He wasn't the only problem, but he played a big part in a disgustingly awful complete team loss.

The only guy who came to play was Warner.

Even on the last fumble he was going for a kill shot in 1st down with 2:50 on the clock. Ball got knocked out after he had it for 4 seconds. Probably on Shanahan too for the play call, but Purdy needed s9me awareness there also.

At what point in Alex's career are we talking because his first 4 seasons he threw 37 tds to 43 interceptions. It took Alex 6 seasons to become a decent QB.

Dude if we had that line and run game Brock could easily do what Alex did lol. Not to mention a defense that forces a ton of turnovers and a great special teams. But yea Alex had less lmao

Alex came to the worst roster in the NFL. Purdy came to the most loaded.

3-1 in spite of Brock, not because of him. Mostly because of Saleh and a little Mac Jones.

Brock has played in 2 games.

One he won by doing the opposite of what you claimed he does and that's throwing a game winning TD missing 2 of his top weapons entering that game.

The second he was bad in however one pick bounced of McCaffrey's hands into the defender, a fumble by the backup TE after a first down into Jags territory. A huge drop(one of several) by Bourne which could've been a TD or minimum first down conversion and a huge gain, followed by a punt return TD.

Brock played poorly but there was also plenty other bad in that game that attributed to the one loss not Brock related.

That's all great. The point most people are making is he isn't playing up to what he is paid. His last 17 games show that, not just yesterday.

It may have been a mistake to pay him and we won't know until the end of this season or the next.

Since the Harbaugh days, this team has only been good when the money was invested everywhere else except the QB position. We paid a QB a lot 3 times in the last 10 or 11 years, whenever their money started to kick in cap wise, we went downhill.

People love to overreact on here.

Brock's big $ contract doesn't go into effect for several years. His cap hit THIS season is $9 million. How many starters in the league have cap hits that low?

Not to mention right now the issue isn't money. It's injuries and inconsistency at the skill positions. It's a tough ask for any QB to have top level success in the circumstances Purdy has found himself in.

Pressured 13 times vs Seattle week 1. Pressured 16 times vs Jags. Running game playing very poorly. Skill players in and out of the lineup cuz of injuries.

We run a timing based offense. When the QB misses time, when the receivers miss time. The timing isn't where it needs to be. It will be a struggle until we get some consistent practice time.

Purdy doesn't need All Pros everywhere but he does need some consistent play at the skill positions. There is no reason to act like just cuz we paid him the team is gutted and Purdy simply can't play with those guys.

Not saying he didn't. But when Alex had the equivalent to what Brock played with yesterday, Alex looked like dog poop.

If Macarthy would have stayed Alex would have done a lot better. Alex was strapped with defensive minded coaches early in his career.

Last 17 games he has played he has a 7-10 record. 24 TDs and 16ints.

Spin that whatever way you want. It isn't good.

Agreed, he looked like what Brock looked like yesterday.
