Brock played bad. Very bad. I do wonder if the injury was an issue whether due to impacting his mechanics or simply creating a rust factor with so many moving pieces.
We are a timing based offense where many of our key guys are out or in and out of the lineup and practice field cuz of injuries.
On top of it we just had a massive team loss. Very few guys didn't have issues today and Brock being the QB is certainly at the top of the list.
My bigger concern will be how JJ and Pearsall feel going into the Rams game. Losing the turnover battle 4 to 0, giving up a special teams TD return and only losing by 5 is actually a miracle. Just shows how much we should've won that game.
Still it's an AFC team and we're still at the top of the division. The Rams game is MUCH more important. I sure hope we avoid playing such a sloppy game vs them but their defense isn't going to make things any easier for Brock. His decision making really has to be perfect against them.
When someone that has been very reliable in the past turns in a stinker like today, it asks us to look around for causes. When we do that we find injuries all over the place, beginning with Purdy. Two days of practice, with guys you have played with very much, is going to set things back. On the final two possessions, other than Robinson, none of the receivers start on a good team, some may not even make the roster. That matters.
Of course, that doesn't change the facts about Purdy's play. However, if we can come within a single drive of winning against a good Jaguars defense after all the mistakes, there is hope.
