Definitely fair deal fs.

Nonsense as in, not every INTs was bad play design.

acting like a QB is free of blame in situations like that is in fact "nonsense" if everything was solely on the HC why the hell pay a QB $200M?

It's one thing to run a HCs system when everything is perfect. When you have an amazing roster and are leading most of the time. It's a whole different thing when the roster isn't great and you're not ahead in most games. That's when the top end players separate themselves.

I like Brock and I'm glad they paid him. He's gotta show he can be great in those situations, if we're gonna win it all. That shouldn't be a controversial thing to say imo.

Players are allowed to be held accountable all the same. Good bad whatever. It takes everyone to win games.

I don't disagree with your last paragraph but simply downplaying the scheme issue especially when Kyle has a rough track record(not that many coaches have great ones in the situations that were being discussed) also isn't fair.

We need to look at each case. Kyle's playcalling last season made it a lot tougher most of the season and he only went to the easy stuff once we got hammered by injuries for some reason. Some of the struggles definitely go on coaching but some are on Brock. They both have to lock in to make sure when one makes a bad call the other can help out.

I'm just glad the deal was signed early and with zero drama.

So for 2026, Purdy's contract will likely account for 17% of our salary cap space (using AVV). And the % will continue to go down as the cap keeps going up. By year 3 of the new deal, his % will be similar to JG when he signed his deal with us.

This is a fair contract for both sides, and provides cap pressure relief for us to continue to add weapons around Purdy.

Hats off to Purdy, his agent, and the 49ers to get this done with no drama (outside of normal TMZ-like gossip reporting from the sports media)
So now that Purdy has his big contract can we expect a SB win? If we don't I'm sure fans will blame it on a weak O line, bad receivers or Kyle's play calling.

We do have those. A neglected offensive line and bad Kyle play calling at times. Especially he can lose a lead and lack the ability to come from behind.

Purdy left the field with the lead in the 2023 Super Bowl. im not sure why youre whining.

So by your logic Cleveland, Buffalo, Green Bay, Detroit, Miami and Arizona all should have Super Bowl wins.

Dude what are you going on about?

Like for real what were you trying to accomplish with this post?

I personally have never blamed Shanny for everything and yeah, he shouldn't be. Brock is definitely not above criticism. I have shown occasional frustration with him..rare but I have shown some lol. With Brock, he tries to force things and be the hero to try and make up for when s**t hits the fan around him. I mean, that's normal to an extent but for him..he just needs to be himself. So many things went wrong last season with our team, this year, hopefully, we will get back on track. Not a dumb analogy..higher picks that weren't worth it. Lance continues to be crap even with more play..I expect the same with Moods..cause he really doesn't seem to change much. Why leave it to a kicker? Not leaving it..that is just the way s**t happens. It is on the kicker to win the game sometimes. Not every game is gunna have a comfy lead. I mean, sheesh lol

For sure it's up to the kicker to win games sometimes. Same as it is for the QB. One just got paid $200M and we should expect him to be a little better in those situations going forward. That's all I'm saying…love that he's our guy going forward.

I think what he's saying is, now we have a f**k ton of cash allocated towards a QB it might be harder to win it all vs having him running around making $900k a yr.

Brock is gonna have to do more with less going forward. Just how it works. We still got the horses to do it now. We will see a couple yrs from now though.

Honestly? Other than the play of the LT, a weak and neglected OL took the 49ers to within one game of a SB victory two seasons ago.

You contradicted yourself in the first paragraph talking about track record and other coaches being bad there as well.

if you went back to the OP the guy basically said he blames Kyle for the poor outcomes at the end of games and not the QB…I said that's nonsense. I don't care if you have Walsh calling plays….they're never ever gonna be 100% open/easy completions. I would say Kyle's probably one of the best in the league in trying to make that a thing for his QB.

At some point in a game (especially late in games) you need a player to just make a damn play. That's why they're making massive amounts of money. The good QBs do that. Go look at some of the best moments in NFL history when something was needed. Mahomes did it to us twice. Big Ben game winning SB throw scrambling around. Tom Brady numerous times. Eli manning twice, Stafford no look pass etc etc.

Brock showed he's capable of it vs DET/GB. We need that to get more consistent, if we're gonna win it all with him.

Purdy's fault apparently the OL forgot to block Chris Jones
