Now I'm not ready to call the guy Joe Montana BUT I have to be honest, most questions I had about the guy he's answered in a positive way.
After the Dolphins my big concern was - how will he look when teams game plan against him vs a solid defense.
Enter Bucs, Exit Bucs.
Then could he handle a key divisional matchup on the road and with added injury issue
Kid did what he needed to do vs Seattle to win the division before xmas.
Then could he keep it going vs another top 5(at the time) defense like Washington after they had a handful of games of tape on him?
He kept it going in a big way.
Then we got the "can he rebound after a bad pick and play from behind"
I still have some gripes but no QB is perfect. Brock has really impressed me with how he carries himself and his ability to avoid negative plays in the pocket. His throwaway vs Washington(I think) when he is pursued by the defender but he's able to fake him out, spin around and toss the ball away vs running out of bounds for the big loss or taking the sack for the big loss.
Obviously in the grand scheme of things it was an incompletion but not to knock Jimmy but we can pretty much guarantee in that situation that's not happening.
I think we're in pretty good hands with Brock. Obviously don't want to see him in more shootouts so hopefully the defense gets back on track but the kid can play. Let's see and hope that he can finish off his amazing story this season by becoming the first rookie and certainly first Mr Irrelevant to win a SB.
He's stepped up in such a huge way that any question I had about his mental makeup has been answered, although playoffs will be a different beast. If I wanted to be difficult, I could ask, "how would he do without 4 of the better skill players in league?". Very few QBs can carry an offense so it's unreasonable to require him to do that at this stage in his career. And we don't have to answer that because it's not the case, he does have good skill players and he is efficiently moving the ball with sprinkles of splash plays.
Various DCs have thrown the kitchen sink at him in terms of scheme (coverage variation, presnap disguises) and he hasn't looked lost at any time. No hyperbole, I don't think he's had a single 'deer in the headlights' moment.
