Some of you can claim some teams made a mistake but a price is still set. You don't get to pretend those other QBs didn't get paid for arguably doing or accomplishing less than Brock has.

Josh Allen is worth more than 50 million per season and if he wanted it he could've gotten it. Each QB can make the decision whether they push for the most they can get regardless of what that does to the rest of the roster or take less/or take the team friendly structure.

Nothing about Brock screams someone who wouldn't help the team by taking less than his play/ability could realistically fetch.

Not sure if anyone is arguing that historic contracts can set a price? I think it is more that for many fans, myself included, we are 49er fans first and foremost. Of course we all have our favorite players, but the fact is that the 49ers are better off signing Brock, or any other player, to the best contract for the organization. The less we pay Brock, the more we have available for other players. The structure of the contract is also important of course, but I view every contract from the viewpoint of "how good it is for the 49ers", not how good it was for the player.

I like Purdy a lot, and hope we can sign him to a fair deal, but make no mistake, I am a 49ers fan, and want the best deal from that perspective. I'm confident that we will get something done.

I don't think you're saying anything crazy. I'd love to see Brock play for the vet minimum if we could make it work somehow...but it's not realistic.

I just don't believe the whole "give him no more than X" line that some fans take is practical. First of all because no fan is actually paying for the contract and second because those average numbers can be fudged to give the player/agent a good look in the media but the contract itself is team friendly.

We actually did two of them in fairly recent history - both Kap and Jimmy G signed deals that set records at the time. Kap with record guaranteed $, Jimmy became the so called "highest paid player in the NFL" at the time.

Neither contract handicapped us.

It's simple - you have your guy, you get him extended unless you have someone you think is just as good or better.

0 shots. SF isn't known for 3 and out. we are known for offense in a big way. i agree with these players. no one wants to sign on for cleveland or these places with no hope. nix was a very exciting watch last season. he was must see tv toward the end of the campaign.

Nah Huff and Dre are not "those" guys. Both have high character; I think they were generally speaking and saying Denver is a better place to go than a team without a QB.

Still can't believe we had to let these two go
