He also had a wife for most of those contracts making like 10x what he was making so that helps too.

And Brady wasn't exactly playing for a vet minimum either. I've seen people acting like Brock should be happy with $30 million.

They got married in 2009. He was a 3x Superbowl champ and MVP at that point. His "discounts" started in 2004.
Bro already has a free toyota camry and tundra, what more does this greedy qb want?

it's was an easier decision for TB to make on taking a discount. He had already won a ship. If we had won, maybe brock would have the same thought process

Brock will own a dealership after the money he is going to get paid. Maybe two. And maybe and Ariat boot factory.

I'm expecting $60M a year but $50M a year would be great.

would you take less money so your company could be more productive?

I wouldn't.

No. But my reputation/legacy/later opportunities for higher future pay hardly depend on my company's production so…

I wouldn't either but I'm not going for a Superbowl win and immortality. I also get paid so much less that I need everything like most folks lol.

Wishful thinking. The difference between $50 million and $60 million is huge. Not chump change like you're painting it. Is that what his MV is? $60 million? If that's the case the Niners will pay that. No question. They ALWAYS pay more than any other team would be willing to pay. It's their MO. They've never held the line on anybody really. QB pay is really out of whack the league over; don't expect the Niers to reset the scale DOWNWARD.

Anyway, they have to pay him whatever it takes, if they truly want to contend. I think that he's a top 5 QB. Just going off his ability to maintain a cool demeanor. No moment is too big for him. And despite people putting down his physical qualities, he's got those as well. He'll be a better QB for having gone through his experience this year.

This is what I am thinking.
I am not debating what he should or shouldn't do.
Most people here are thinking with his money.
If you had the chance to set yourself up you most likely would.

there is no guarantee that if you give the team a discount they would even use that money to pursue a SB.
they might duct tape a team together and that is out of your control.

The difference is if his company is more productive he will be more likely to get paid again in 5 years, and if he wins a SB he will get even more sponsor deals. He shouldn't have to take a discount, considering the number of mediocre QB's who have done nothing in the playoffs getting paid 55+ mil, but hopefully he is smart about looking down the road and considering what will allow him to make even more.

Fair enough.

Just don't think it's fair for fans to be demanding he take less to build a team around him.

A team friendly contract is no guarantee they will do the right thing with the "savings"

Trevor and Dak really screwed the market up for teams.

What if the fans want him to take up less of the cap because they don't think he's earned more of it just yet? I mean that's okay, right? I mean Tom Brady giving out discounts after 3 rings was a bad comparison from the getgo. What are we doing here?

Did we just watch the same season? There are unknowns all over the place. Players that are capable of carrying their team are to eat up more cap space than those that cannot. So we shouldn't really call it a "discount."

The team decides in the end anyways, but if you think $60M per while a couple others think $40M or $30M,...everyone's opinion is fair game here until we know more.

Yea. It's a tough situation. I don't think he owes it to the team to give a friendly deal but what 99 says is also correct. He will ultimately earn more if he is more successful and theoretically he would be with more $ to spend on the players around him. But it all depends on if this front office can make the right FA decisions. I wouldn't say they've done a good job in free agency the last few years.
They should offer him 2 years 120 million or 5 years 225 million
